Shades of Mist

Adventure Module C2 (C&C)

Saddle stitched, $8.95, 24 pages

TLG 8076, ISBN 978-1-929474-88-2
http://www.trolllord.com/newsite/cnc/8076.html

Upon the slopes of the long bluff of Lorettas Agony lie the ruins of Aliegor. Long ago devotees of the Og-Aust, the Frog Gods, lived here. And their religious house thrived like no other. It bore the fruit of wealth and the knowledge of the world before the turmoil of war and plague. But that was before even the coming of the kings and the rule of the bastard gods. Now beneath the shades of the willow trees, along the course of the Mistbanes tributaries only the shadows of memories remain.

Beyond the long line that is Lorettas Bluff lies the deep and mournful Millorian. Here ancient trees tower over the fertile earth, their roots deep and old. Elves have dwelt here for years without count and have made the wood a wondrous if altogether dangerous place. But of late the Bowlgaar Orcs have grown in power and war is brewing in the forest deeps. For the Bowlgaar are driven by the Paths of Umbra, a mendicant and wild wizard who sees in them a tool for his greater power. For he desires what few believe even exist, and he knows that in the deeps of the Millorian lie the ruined powers of the Og-Aust.

But shadows overcome all and the banks of mist that dwell upon the currents of the Mistbane make all things in these deep reaches twisted and shades of themselves. And still the stain of the winter dark lies here to and other powers linger from beyond.

Plunge into the deeps of the Darkenfold and explore the mysteries beyond the green. Here your worthy arms can explore the ruins of Alice and the temple of Aliegor. Beyond the heights is the country of the wild elves, and the ancient woods where lizard men trade with dwarves and orcs wage a deadly if silent war beneath the green eves. Follow the course of the Mistbane and unravel the riddle of the Willow and see into the realm of the dead.

To live in these eves is to move like a ghost to join all others that are nothing more than Shades in the Mist.

My party has just visited Alice while exploring the Darkenfold. When this comes out, they're going to do a "Return to Alice" adventure.

Work progresses. We are going to try to release some one shots for the regional map already supplied in Mortality of Green. First up is the region around Green Hill.

Given how much I've been looking forward to further modules in the "C" series - probably more than anything short of After Winter's Dark - that's not good news. I hope things pick back up relatively quickly.

I'm pretty sure delays are based on what they can put aside in order to try and meet the GenCon deadline for the half dozen or so products they are trying to get done by then.

Let's hope so. I'd hate to see this series die after just the one adventure.

Its not delayed too long I don't think. It all depends on how these other projects proceed, which they seem to be moving along pretty nicely. We're looking at the Gencon time frame to clear the shoot quite a bit.

But the C series is not abandoned. The Darkenfold and Soup Marsh are my favorite areas of adventure and they warrant much exploration.

I've written about 6000 words on this. I expect to be able to finish the bulk of this adventure this week.

I am introducing the first of some extensive encounter charts in C2.

The Encounters chart is designed for generic Woodlands, but with footnotes for Darkenfold.

I've at last started working on this again, despite my many pronouncements and marked deadline dates. I should have some solid news soon.

The main hold up on Shades is the dirn map. I've decided to complete the entire map of the Darkenfold from the Upplands, to the Downs and from the Powder River to the Millorian. Though Shades of Mist only allows for adventure in the region south of Ends Meet (around Alice, Mount Hermitage and the Bottoms) the map supplied with Shades will be of the whole Darkenfold.

There's Bent's Trading Post, Willowbreak, Walks Water Creek, Two Dog Rivers, Gurthap Falls and so forth.

I anticipate the full map being turned over to Peter by this weekend.

Is the whole map of theDarkenfold going to be poster sized, 8.5" x 11", or part of the module itself and thus smaller? Color? Sepia? B&W?

The present map I'm working on is 70 x 45. Presently I'm looking at a full color map, maybe in several sections or maybe one large map.
