Codex Questions/errors?
So I have been reading through and found of couple of places I have questions, they might be errors.
First Under Races
Gnomes are listed under the Faulerde and are said to be an offshoot of the Dwarves family tree but under the heading for the travel, (the splintered) gnomes are listed as part of this group. So which are they?
Under the Gods,
Firthnach does not have his plane listed. Everyone else does but not him. So where does he hang out when not at work.
Also is it just me or is Firthnach really just Gary Gygax as a diety?

Re: Codex Questions/errors?
I would assume the listing under the Truvl is wrong. Steve has posted things about the gnomes on the blog that leads me to believe this.
Frithnach might be Gary, but I'm ok with that. As for his plane, I'd make it Airhde proper.

Thanks Rigon.
I am loving the book, just a shame there are little things like this. Troll editing strikes again.

There are actually a LOT of gods that make their home ON Aihrde, such as the entire Nordic Pantheon. So this may very well be his world, especially if it is indeed a tribute to Gary.
As for the Gnome, they are an off shoot of the Dwarves, that is long established. Still, it is entirely feasible for there being other offshoots, considering how much the gods were messing with everything after the All Father was done.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: Codex Questions/errors?
Yeah, considering they come in the list after "some of..." I would say its just saying the Gnomes came about because of the fracturing of the All Fathers mind, and were derived from Dwarven stock in some manner. Those that live in the 7 Rivers area only, though. So the exact details are obviously left to us to decide. So it would seem that some Gnomes came about after the All Fathers mind splintered, and those outside of the 7 Rivers area came about at some point before.
I'd say this was to take into account the varieties of gnomes offered throughout the history of D&D. So I would say that the Gnome in the PHB is the type that was created BEFORE the All Fathers mind splintered, and any other variant gnomes came about after his mind splintered.

As for Firthnach, he is absolutely an homage to Gary, since he was working as a Cobbler when he (co)created D&D, and the offerings definitely harken to things Gary liked to consume in his life, etc... Combine that with creating the courage to adventure in the creatures of the world, the physical description, in particular of the hair, etc... definitely an homage to Gary.

Yeah, I think the real give away is that his holy symbol is a d20. I can just picture his clerics carrying around holy bags a dice. Kind of a neat tribute.

I had completely missed that! Yeah, that clinches it, an homage to Gary!

Yeesh, I've been away too long and away from gaming for longer. I received my Aihrde loot, but I have yet to read any of it. I'll be looking into Firthnach tonight. Cool stuff!
