Bloodhound 1/2 Orc Advantage...

Post by Captain_K »

From CKG... the wording is track prey by scent like a ranger... that said, is it track any creature or only prey food items?
What was the intent here?

A half orc ranger with this should be pretty darn good. Better than the PH +2 bonus, say a +5 or more.

But I assume this tracking should not equal a ranger.

Thoughts?

Without looking at the exact wording in the CKG, I'd just give the half-orc the tracking ability and if it was a ranger a +2 or 3 to their track check.

I agree and would give bonuses and penalties as appropriate. But sense of smell for a bloodhound is crazy, if you have time check out some of the Mythbusters re: bloodhound.

It seemed reasonable that its just Ranger's tracking ability done by scent. Thus the plus and minus of tracking need to be created for scent based tracking, but most would be close. My really worry was "Are these racial things supposed to be as powerful as a full class ability"... but Hide and Move Silent of races are just like thief so seems right.

Thanks Rigon and T1hound

Likewise, would you use a similar rule for a creature with the scent ability? I would.

Thanks, trying to understand and be fair. Seems logical and should work.
