Just received my color M&T!

Post by spudeus »

My hardcopy Monsters & Treasures arrived a couple days ago. It really does feel like a needed accessory - who wants to remember what monster is in what book? A few quick, first reactions:

Not every monster has an illustration. Those that do are of high quality; it's nice to see full page art, a throwback to 1e monster books.

Some of my favorite humanoids are jermlaine and tasloi - they seem to be here under the IP-neutral names 'Jarim' and 'Tail-Goblins'.

Kudos to the domestic cat. . .YAAAY! But, it can't do any damage and terrorize low level PCs. . . BOOOO!

The most comprehensive 'Faery' section remember seeing in any bestiary. Do folks run a lot of games in Fey realms?

Flumph.

This is the hardcover book - all 368 pages! I'm fairly close to Troll Lord here in Missouri, I'm sure everyone will be getting their copy in the near future.

Thanks for the post, spud!

Methinks, I'll have to get a copy!

Maybe I was lucky to get mine quick. . . the Trolls did post on KS that storms/power outages have kept shipping to a crawl, but they are gradually getting back up to speed.

I received mine just yesterday. The new M&T is awesome. By far THE definitive C&C monster book. It's weighty -- at 368 pages, it's a monster itself! 5-stars.

leather bound M&T, huge, as it should be, excellent color art, plus 3 ring binder of other stuff and insert pages of M&T.. worth every penny.

Wow, Captain I don't remember that version - picture?

On the 5th printing, I have noticed that a few 'creepy-crawlies' seem absent:

Beetle, Giant
Slug, Giant
Wasp, Giant (or Bee)

Don't get me wrong, I like the new M&T, but doesn't it seem like these are classic, versatile critters that should be included? Beetles, especially, are rpg staples.

I just got my binder, book and extras the other day. I had time to fill the binder but not to flip through the contents. My second-eldest stepson saw it as I unboxed it and was practically reaching for it asking if he could look at it (i.e. acquire it...my paperback PHB/MT book was "loaned" to him and after a month of him reading it, it looks worse than my highly used 30 year old AD&D 2nd Ed PHB). I held him off for now.

From what I saw, the art is gorgeous! The binder pages seem thicker than the AD&D Compendium pages, which is nice to reduce the punched holes from ripping. I flipped through the digital Classes book and such and found some of those new classes rather fascinating-the class that steals spells is VERY different!

Overall it looks like a lot of fun to page through....when I can get to it.

OK, failing miserably to upload picture, each try in each format does not take with no warnings...

I just tried every way I know. I can paste a link to my google drive, but can't post just a picture.

I tried a couple times and it gave a 'image post limit reached' type message.

At a guess; I'd say that the attachment memory limit is maxed and that given the shift towards Discord, KotC, and other media, it is unlikely to be expanded. So a bunch of images need deleted to free room or posted elsewhere that is currently supported.
