| The Doomsday Book Cogitatio - Remissio - Fraternitas:
Greetings to his Imperial Majesty, King Edward the Golden, the Duke
of Sac, his Grand Eminence, the Archbishop Zagyg, his Lordship,
Coburg the Undying, Lord of the Red Tower, his Royal Highness, Morgled,
Prince of Tides, the Lords Paladins, Prince Palatine, Artisans,
Sages, Their Lordships the Earls and Barons, Nobles, Castilians
and Crusaders, Knights, Priestesses, Dames and Ladies!
The Castle and Crusade Society was founded in1968 in Lake Geneva,
by gamers, well known and forgotten. It has gone through several
incarnations, revisited by such notables as Tom Wham, and has at
last found a new home, here and in your home and at your local conventions.
In great part we have been inspired by the tales of those early
years to bring back a spirit of comradery and fun to a hobby that,
for many, has wandered far from the child within us all. With that
in mind, it is the Society’s goal to promote gaming in all its guises
and introduce a younger generation to a hobby that many believe
is rapidly diminishing in the face of new technologies, and to re-introduce
veterans and grognards alike to an epoch in gaming history when
it was all about the adventure!
Welcome all of you to a band of like minded merry adventurers.
The Castle and Crusade Society, veterans and novices alike, are
all dedicated gamers and believe that games of all types should
be exciting, invigorating, imaginative and above all, fun and we
are working diligently to bring gamers together under one banner
to support the community as a whole. The members of the Castle and
Crusade Society are not restricted to any style or type of game,
or even a single genre of games. There are amongst us those who
play all incarnations of roleplaying games, war games, classic board
games, card games and computer games.
Yet even more than that, we are a happy few, bound to a time and
place less mundane. A band of like minded chivalry who look ever
to the horizons, to that place that lingers on the borders of our
imagination and desire.
Welcome weary traveler, set down your pack and take a place at our
table. Take a rest from your long adventures and gather with us
to hear tall tales of gold and glory. Though be not shy in joining
our ranks, our happy troop, so that you may add your voice to a
hall full of fellow wanderers like yourself.
For in time we shall gather as a great armored host . . . .
If ye be men of valor, great fortitude and wondrous imagination,
gather ye bravely and join in marshal arms with us! Assemble your
strengths, unsheathe your weapons, heft your shields and gird yourselves
as if for war.... |
