I’ve struggled with this announcement all day. How do I express what Gary meant to me personally, to TLG as a company, and to our community at large? It is almost impossible. He was a business partner, mentor but more than anything else Gary was a very close friend. He enjoyed life, good food and company. He loved to play games, sing ditties and tell jokes. He particularly loved to tell jokes to me, knowing full well I wouldn’t get them. I could go on this vein . . . .
But perhaps it is best that I say very little, but rather that we remember Gary for the man e was. A man who so loved games and the fun that they bring us that he devoted his entire life to crafting them for us. . . and playing them. If you can, join me in offering up a chair at your table this week for our Dungeon Master. Set a good brew down for him, some paper and dice and know that if you are having fun, he too is having fun. For that was the true depth of his craft.
Here’s to you Gary. May your adventures continue. Rest in peace knowing your memory is cherished by countless millions.

Gary had a favorite Bible verse: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
