the King’s summons, and threatens the King’s rule by his defiance.
The King needs adventurers to follow the road into the mountains in
quest of the elusive hermit, and to bring him to heel. But the road
of adventure is many forked and deadly, and where it leads will
 surprise even the most veteran of players.

Written and designed by the grandmaster of fantasy role-playing, Gary
Gygax’s The Hermit begins simply enough with outdoor exploration
as the Avatars quest for the Hermit’s hut, but very soon the adventure’s
many twists and turns begin to strenuously test the mettle of the Avatars.
  A whole range of action-based and problem-solving challenges
are presented, and with them not a few opportunities for role-playing. 
In many places the players confront situations where clever thinking
and dialogue, not combat, are called for!
