03/12/08: TLG, with the whole gaming community, mourns the passing of Gary Gygax. We’ve worked with Gary for the better part of 7 fun-filled, often down right hilarious years now and with the gracious permission of his heirs we are humbled to announce that we will continue to work with his legacy. It is what Gary wanted and we will do our level best to continue to bring his adventurous spirit to the collective gaming table. Many questions have been asked about his properties, and what is going to happen with them. In the coming days I’ll address these questions here, on the boards and the blog. Gary worked with us for a long time and we have many manuscripts of his, some near publication, some not. For now, know that all systems are cleared for GO on Castle Zagyg, Lejendary Adventure, Gord the Rogue and the Gygaxian Fantasy World series. There is more in the offing and we’ll bring it to you as fast as we can. So with that in mind . . . .

We had an amazing crew (thanks to all you guys!), great location, an amazing roster of projects available, and Gary Gygax in the booth that led to an overall tremendous show. But we aren’t going to rest there. We’ve unloaded trucks, taken inventory and have begun getting this material organized to get all these projects released and out to you all. Its been an amazing Summer and we are set to begin an amazing Autumn. My targets are set on King of England King of France and Gary Gygax’s Lejendary Pantheons. If you do not have your order in, be sure to get it over to us so that we can get it out to you asap.
The East Mark Gazetteer will be a little late as we ran out of some of the component parts to it and have to get more in. That thing went like wild stock at Gencon. But don’t worry, those of you who ordered get signed and numbered copies.
COMING SOON: As we put a wrap on the above projects we are turning out attention to gearing up Crusader to a monthly magazine (more on that in the coming weeks) and have begun work on Kings of England Kings of France. 05/07/07: As we prep ourselves for Lake Geneva Gaming Convention III I would like to take a moment and shine the light on a really unique product that I ran into at GTS, one that deserves a nod and tip from the Troll Lords! Battlefield Evolution by Mongoose Publishing is a ground braking game. Basically Battlefield Evolution is a game of modern warfare that involves 4 combatants (right now, I’m sure it will be expanded), the UK, US, China and the Middle East Alliance. This is nothing short of amazing. Something that seems so natural, but yet so foreign in our hyper-sensitive, morally ambiguous world. Mongoose actually had the gall to allow its consumers to battle the Enemy…this hasn’t been done since the west was at war with Nazi Germany and its frankly amazing!! No matter which way you cut the rug, if you are for the war or against it, a good number of our men and women are on the battlefield right now fighting Fedayeen squads of Toyota truck driving machine gunners. Hats off to Mongoose recognizing something the western world’s entertainment industry won’t…we are at war and we are fighting people in the Middle East ! More of this on my blog in the coming days.
The 3rd Printing of the C&C Players Handbook is at press now. I’ll have a schedule for it tomorrow or later this week, but it should be out in the first week of June. We are opening it up for pre-orders. For the changes check the PH product page. I’ve begun wrapping up the After Winter Dark Setting book and Peter has the maps well in hand, this book should join Crusader Vol. 3, Issue 6 at press next week.
WHAT’S NEW: Dragons of Aihrde Miasmal Wyrms is fresh from the printers and making the rounds to distributors and a store near you in the next week or two. Also of course is the LA adventure module They Who Watch and the d20 adventure Cult of Yex
COMING SOON: Its high time we announced a project that Gary Gygax delivered to us last year. Its an historical strategy game he designed called King of England, King of France. The game allows up to five players to play one of five states in the Middle Ages: England, France, the County of Flanders, Duchy of Savoy, or the County of Toulouse. Alvin Helms (Planet Busters and Crusader Vol. 3, Number 5) has begun laying the game out in earnest and we hope to see this in print by Gencon. Take a moment to check it out and be sure to visit Gary on our message boards and discuss the game with him.
04/30/07 We’ve recently returned from the Gama Trade Show (last Thursday) and can report that Castles & Crusades continues to garner the attention and interest of retailers, but equally as interesting was the interest displayed in Crusader Journal. With the imminent fall of Dragon and Dungeon Magazine’s it seems there is some fear and a great of deal of desire to fill the looming gap. Crusader Journal is of course just the bill. We’ll be overhauling the webpages in the coming days to better reflect the content it has and will have in the future. IF you don’t have a subscription now is the time!
WHAT’S NEW: Obviously GTS interrupted our normal schedule and bumped things around a bit, but we do have, shipping this week the first of the Dragons of Aihrde series. Miasmal Wyrms ships on Friday May 3. “Herein are the miasmal wyrms, secreting poison through glands in their skin and acids in their breath, their mouths are so infected with bacteria and rot that to suffer a bite from one is to invite a slow and painful, if not maddening, death….” Also two new symbiotic creatures, magic items and new poison rules for C&C.
CONVENTION: Up next is our very own Lake Geneva Gaming Convention. This launches on June 15th and runs through that Sunday on the 17th. This is our third annual convention, if you’ve not made it yet, you’ll definitely want to check it out!

This week we’ll focus on A4: Usurpers of the Fell Axe, After Winter Dark Campaign Setting Book and Maps, Canting Crew Revisited, Lejendary Pantheons and Gary Gygax’s own More Beasts of Legend for the LA game system. Somewhere in this lies the Crusader Journal, Issue 6!

04/01/07: Goodman Games, Troll Lord Games Merge to Create Good Lord Games!
Goodman Games and Troll Lord Games are pleased to announce that they will be merging, effective immediately. The new company, to be called Good Lord Games, is being created in a complex deal rumored to involve an Arkansas hog, the secret location of the Chenault family still, and Goodman’s personal collection of TSR modules that inspired his line of Dungeon Crawl Copies adventure modules. I mean, Classics. Dungeon Crawl Classics.
“Guinness is a great beer, rich and frothy, with a wonderful heritage,” said Steve Chenault, President of Troll Lord Games. “It’s – Huh? Merger? Oh yeah, yeah, it’s great. Terrific. Now let’s get back to the beer!”
“This propitious merger of equals will unlock synergistic best practices in our quality-driven processes for product development,” said Joseph Goodman, President of Goodman Games. “And it opens brave new possibilities for more modules to rip off. Troll Lord has published dozens of modules we can assimilate!”
The two companies immediately announced an aggressive lineup of alphanumeric expansion, with Goodman handling the numeric and Troll Lord handling the alpha. Goodman will begin a newly numbered series of Dungeon Crawl Classics modules based on the Dewey Decimal System. Look for Dungeon Crawl Classics #24.12.1-8b: The Misfiled Module in a store near you. Troll Lord is taking the Castles & Crusades alliteration to the next level with three new games: Exploration & Expeditions, Fiends & Friends, and Gold & Glory. Chenault began this paragraph with another product line in mind, but after his ninth Guinness can’t get past G in the alphabet so screw it.
For more information, visit www.GoodLordGames.com or please contact us at info@goodman-games.com regarding a very large bridge for sale.

Our hearts go out to the family of Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter. It would be difficult to imagine a man with more passion for his work. He embodied that fierceness of spirit that makes men greater than the mundane. "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long" and he burned so very bright. We join the world in mourning his loss and wish him God Speed to whatever far flung fields of adventure he has embarked upon. ~Troll Lord Games

08/27/06: Troll Lord Games, publisher of the Castles & Crusades role-playing game, is pleased to announce that Adventure Games Publishing has licensed Castles & Crusades for use with the Wilderlands of High Adventure fantasy campaign setting, developed under license from Judges Guild.
"The Wilderlands of High Adventure is an excellent match for Castles & Crusades," said Stephen Chenault, President of Troll Lord Games. "The original Wilderlands of High Fantasy was the ground-breaking campaign setting back in the early days of role-playing games, and a newly revised and updated version fits perfectly with the modern classic role-playing game system of Castles & Crusades."
Wilderlands of High Fantasy was the first fantasy campaign setting, published in 1977 by Judges Guild as the world built around the classic City State of the Invincible Overlord™. Adventure Games Publishing's Wilderlands of High Adventure updates and expands the campaign setting, adding a modern, epic high fantasy veneer to the classic swords and sorcery core of the setting, and providing Judges with all the tools, information, and campaign elements needed to pick up a product and run a fun, engrossing, and complete game session or even campaign with as little or as much additional preparation as desired.
"I am very impressed by the Castles & Crusades system," Bob Bledsaw, President and founder of Judges Guild. "It provides players and Judges a simple if elegant system with which to let their imaginations wander freely, unhindered by complex rules, and thus allows role-playing to once again take precedence over roll-playing. This fits in perfectly with the way I originally intended the Wilderlands to be run, and allows players and Judges to truly make the Wilderlands their own."
The first Wilderlands of High Adventure products are scheduled for release in early 2007.

06/19/06: Lake Geneva Gaming Convention (II) After Action Report
From the Little Rock on the River to the Castle on the Lake
We began our sojourn into the north country on Wednesday / Thursday eve, about midnight. Davis, Mark Sandy and myself loaded into the cab of the old chevy and took off, a jumble of boxes, racks and luggage in the open bed. I drove the first small stretch, then Davis took the wheel and finally Mark took over. Mark works evenings so he carried us through the bulk of the night and early morning hours. We were hoping to make Lake Geneva by noon or there-abouts. We jabbered off and on, but for the most part Davis and I slept the bumpy sleep of that unsung hero of our collective cultural landscape, the auto-traveler.
As the sun came up we roused ourselves and made a few stops to get the requisite coffee, smokes, donuts and the like. We plunged on, watching the endless miles slip underneath and behind us. Somewhere out there we knew there was a small army of similar travelers, all braving the miles of open road and sky to come to Lake Geneva town and join in the fest. We were all tired, and pretty quiet, listening mostly to the road roll beneath us.

Its gone through two printings and two games and seems only natural to bring it out in a third,” remarked Stephen Chenault, TLG’s General Manager. “We did find however, that after re-working the stat blocks into the stream lined C&C style that the book lost several pages and now stands at 14 pages. So we thought it best to release it in electronic format now and print it later as part of a compilation.” Troll Lord Games is committed to supporting the Castles & Crusades line with print and electronic product and to maintaining a reasonable price on all products. “The Mortality of Green” can be found at www.RPGnow.com.
