Re: Last hardcover black & white PHB request for the Trolls
I find the color books hard to read. I liked my 4th edition black and white version the best. The color books are very pretty, but impractical. I kickstarted and bought copies of all the new color books, but the B&W versions are my favorites. It seems the industry as a whole has shifted toward big, ...

Re: Black & white, versus colour book interiors
I find the black and white easiest to read. Color looks pretty, but for reading and playing it's B&W all the way.
I think full color is the industry standard and the way to go to get new customers though.

Re: The C&C class you play the least or don't like to play
Monk and then Illusionist. I never cared for the monk as a concept and they always seemed underpowered at low levels. Attacks and defense never seemed to compete with a fighter-type, and the other abilities don't compensate for this. IMO. The Illusionist always seemed odd as a class unto itself. It ...

My girlfriend and I are going to GenCon for the first time ever! We're both very excited. We registered a little late so the official C&C games were already filled but we'd love to get in on a pick-up game sometime.

Re: MMO slump, what are you playing?
I recently started playing The Secret World . It just went buy-to-play (buy the game, no monthly subscriptions). The concepts and story are cool and the skill wheel keeps me up at night planning out my character and devising builds. You can buy the game for $30 or less and with no subscription fees,...

Re: Hackmaster Basic
Too crunch for me. Lots of cool ideas, but the sum of all the small changes was too great compared to a traditional D20 game. The roll for attack and roll for defense and reroll if either is a crit or fumble leads to some drawn out die rolling sequences to resolve a simple attack. I don't care much ...

Well, a d20 has only 3 sides to each face, 2 less than a d12 which has 5.Sir Ironside wrote:One would think, in the standard fair, the d20 would be the most guilty of this (Even physics backs this up.). By another popular thread you'd figure the d30 would even be worse and the d100 the worst by far.

Re: The One Ring RPG: New LOTR RPG
The d12 is my least favorite die and this makes me wary of a game that uses it often. The problem is that of all the dice I own, this one rolls for the longest time and covers the greatest distance, making it a pain to roll at a table. (I'm guessing this is due to the fact that each face on a d12 is...

Re: Question for Game Consumers
My experience with Lulu (print on demand) is that hardcovers aren't cheap. If you want to sell them basically at cost, they can be reasonable, but definitely not cheap. If I wanted to make an RPG that was affordable, I would make it digest sized and paperback. If it's print on demand, you can make a...

Re: Yet another online regular C&C campaign
Sounds interesting as I prefer a bit more roleplay and world interaction rather than mostly straight up combat.
To clarify one point, is the in-game stuff handled with text and typing via matpools and Skype just for OOC? Or is Skype used for everything?

Another problem that I thought of is that the campaign setting doesn't distinguish holy and arcane magic, which could be a problem. Anyone houseruled around this with their own setting?

Running a Dragon Age Game With C&C
I've finally started playing through Dragon Age: Origins and am loving it. I like a lot of the basic setting tropes (like the Chantry and the Templars, politics reminiscent of game of thrones) and would like to run a Dragon Age game. The rules for the Green Ronin are a bit lackluster in places and i...

Re: Myth & Magic RPG
I just checked out the latest edition and suddenly I'm less enthused. It seems there's a bit more complexity than originally, which is a bit of a detractor for me. Too many feats and skills etc. Still, I like games with an older edition feel and certain new edition mechanics, so I'll definitely be p...

Re: Myth & Magic RPG
This game looks amazing. It ended up being very much like C&C in it's approach - not a retro clone at all, but a redesign of 2e.
I love a lot of the changes they made and can't wait for the final version.
I have a feeling this is going to be right up there with C&C as one of my all-time favorites.

Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....
Cortex Serenity - I ran a very short campaign but dropped it early on when the clumsiness of the rules and writing was too much for me. From what I've seen, later games have improved quite a bit, but that was the setting I had high hopes for a great RPG for.

Enjoyed the sample Tim. Looks good! I should point out that it seems odd that one would review a book based on a 25 sample as this guy on therpgsite decided to do. Think he is a fan of c&c? No matter. Here is his thoughts on the ToC for the CKG: Please note that this was only commentary on the ToC ...

Re: Neil Gaimon on Copywrite Piracy & The Web
Nice to see someone in the business taking a rational approach to this. Many content producers get emotional and can't get past the "They're stealing my stuff!" sentiment to look at the potential benefits like increased sales and revenue. There is a fine line in there somewhere, however. In the musi...

Re: 7th Sea C&C
Good tips Anglefish. I picked up the Freeport companion; the Pirate, Noble and firearms rules should work well. I'd still like to add a Swashbuckler or Musketeer class, or at least a variant fighter who focuses more an agility. I like the defense bonus rules you linked as well, although those values...

7th Sea C&C
I would like to run a 7th Sea campaign with swashbuckling musketeers, pirates etc. but I'd like to stick to my go to system, C&C. The Original 7th Sea system is cool, but it's not as quick and easy as Castles and Crusades. Has anyone done conversions or home-brew classes for 7th sea type characters?...
