I generally treat a copper as $1 to the average citizen, but otherwise don't get too worked up about it.

Re: Favorite Christmas Elf - Gnome - Dwarf
For several years we ran a Christmas themed zombie game. Once in a mall, once at the north pole, I think there was a year with a space station. Always fun. The one game a year my wife wold run

I'm reading Leverage with an eye towards running a Star Trek spy campaign. I'm going to use the 2d20 Star Trek rules, but there are some very interesting philosophies about gaming in that Leverage book.

Re: Popularity of focused v generic game systems
I believe that the specific RPG's are fighting in a crowded market for sales, and the licensed IP will bring it to the attention of fans of that IP. As an experienced player you could, for example, set your C&C game in a high school for wizards. But how many C&C fans are there compared to Harry Pott...

Re: Monday Night Ne'er-do-wells Sci Fi
I don't know if I'm allowed to post here, but Star Trek Adventures wouldn't need to be house ruled for lower deck characters, rules are already in place for that, the system just assumes you're playing the command staff of something, star ship, star base, fleet. I'm a fan of the system and find it v...

I tried it once, back in the days of 1st ed. It wasn't particularly difficult, but it was "one more thing" to track. Good for the simulationist, I suppose

Re: Star Treck RPG
Momentum = Determination in the above example. 1 momentum spent gives 1 extra d20 to roll. Determination is more powerful and harder to get, and that extra dice bought with determination is 2 successes. I will be the first to say that there are things about 2d20 that I don't like (extended work trac...

Re: Ethereal Plane
One might argue that an etheric ghost must translate to the material plane to interact in any way with regular old folks, but can shift back and forth at will. One could also argue that this is why magic weapons are required to hit in the first place and that this situation is already accounted for ...

Re: Star Treck RPG
That is a heck of a deal for a system that's a ton of fun (once you get the hang of it). If you are a Trek fan, you should get it. That $41 gets you a LOT of material, and 13 adventures.

Currently reading Outbreak Undead 2nd edition in preparation for our annual Christmas Zombie game. The rules are simple enough, but presentation leaves a little to be desired.
