Chronicles of Adamus: Looking for Guest DMs

I'm looking for Guest DMs to take part in a text-chat Castles & Crusades solo-player campaign, with the results of the game posted in my blog afterwards. More details here: http://eyerayofthebeholder.blogspot.ca/ ... -this.html

Graaz't Stats

Does anyone know in which older edition book I can find Graaz't stats that would go well with C&C? :)

Magic Items XP Value

Does anyone know of a chart for a simpler way to assign XP value to magic items? It's not exactly easy to do so if you use magic items not in the actual Monsters & Treasure book, you have to compare with others and take a guess basically. I CAN do that, but it's more of a chore every time.

Good points. I'm seriously over-thinking this. I know it and I still can't help it! xD

How long should magic items be kept for XP?

I was thinking a week, during which it's used at least once. The C&C books leave it vague but I was wondering if some previous D&D books were more specific on the subject and/or how other DMs handled it.

Re: Tome of Horrors Complete Pathfinder or Swords and Wizard

Glad you picked up the S&W version. It seemed easier to convert IMHO as mentioned up thread, it has the sample encounters for each monster. Does anyone know if the Pathfinder version has this? Regardless it is a great book, though now it's title is somewhat dated, considering FGG is releasing T...

Looks incredibly frustrating, but I guess this sort of thing would work for the right group. Be careful though,it might end in a table-flip!
And still kinder than the Tomb of Horrors!!! :p

Re: Tome of Horrors Complete Pathfinder or Swords and Wizard

Pathfinder has more stats because it is a crunchier game. In many old-school versions of the game, some of what the monster did was actually included in the description itself, which was a bit of a hassle in the middle of combat when you had to read some specific attack stuff without wanting to go t...

Bruno's Cruel Dungeon: Make your Players Cry

I've recently come up with some ideas about combining certain monsters into a single dungeon that would make the experience particularly painful for players... Let me know what you guys think? :D http://eyerayofthebeholder.blogspot.ca/2013/09/brunos-cruel-dungeon-make-your-players.html or http://bru...

Re: Skullkickers

I've read the trade paperback editions released thus far. If I recall correctly, the characters and story are very directly inspired from fantasy gaming by the author (Second edition AD&D, I think was the setting mentioned). It's fun and certainly full of the Monty Haul-ism that creeps into cam...

Re: How Not to be a Bad Roleplayer! Ep.1 (New Video!)

Well, I did say that a beer or two at the game is fine... :p
But yeah, beyond 3 beers, players usually start to be less than attentive or don't play as well.
Anyway, like I said, other groups don't mind, but in the end I stick to the idea that it won't help a game.

Re: How Not to be a Bad Roleplayer! Ep.1 (New Video!)

Yeah, I guess some episodes will have more obvious points to make than others... xD Still, I also touch upon other stuff from there, so I also talk about things like those who want to be 'casual' players, or the attitude of people who bend over backwards to welcome the new players to unneeded degree...

Well done! I am sure some won't like how long it is, but you really came across as knowing the game. You gave lots of examples of how so much of it works. Even with your criticisms, giving comparisons of how the Flame Princess was better presented, why the Manuals weren't as good a choice as more p...

Re: non Prime saves being "impossible" to make is a falacy.

Unless, of course, you have a CK who for whatever reason, throws monsters 5, 6 or 10 levels above you at you. The reason is the players are adventuring in a living, breathing world. There should be times that they will encounter something far above or far below their current abilities. I ran a game...

Treebore... I feel (maybe incorrectly) that this thread might have started at least partially due to an older thread of mine about harsh saves and possibly even my (still very positive about the game) video review. Or maybe this is a huge coincidence. Either way, OF COURSE a GM can always make it so...

Re: Machinations of the Space Princess

I like LotFP so I'm tempted to back this. But, with X-Plorers, Stars Without Number, and Traveller, my sci-fi gaming spectrum is covered. I'm personally getting it for the same reason I got LotFP in the first place; the style/fluff. On a crunch level, I did not need LotFP, but its style and advice ...
