Re: Staff of Striking

The only mention of the Staff of Striking that I can find in a Castles & Crusades product is in the Yggsburgh Town Hall product , and it says this about the staff of striking: Staff of Striking. This yew staff is the equivalent of a +3 magic weapon. It causes 1d6+3 points of damage, expending 1...

Staff of Striking

I didn't see the Staff of Striking listed in the M&T or the CKG.

Has it been added to C&C under a different name? If so, can someone please provide the name and in which book it is located? If not, is it an item not designated as open game content?

Thank you!

How about others? Do you prefer playing, CKing, or designing adventures?
I enjoy all three. 8-)

I'm most comfy behind the screens DMing / CKing... especially if I'm running adventures I designed. ;)

Re: The Barons of Bellevue

The group struck out for the dungeon lair of Gritznak, confident that it should be nearly, if not completely, devoid of threats after the assault on Malforten. The two-day trek was uneventful. The party was able to re-enter the lair through the hilltop opening used previously. When the group reached...

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?

Most recently, Aihrde. At GaryCon 2019 I ran C&C sessions based in HârnWorld. I'm curious Ancalagon, how did you handle spellcasters, did you do any kind of conversion? The adventure featured 5 pre-gens belonging to a nomadic tribe, what are called "barbarians" in HârnWorld. With that...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?

Kayolan & Ancalagon I understand the simplicity of not allowing multi class character, and can see the allure of that (yes it would make things so much more simple). However, I believe the world is more complex so that is reflected in my games. Also I am a habitual fiddler and tinker with the r...

Five consistent players is my preference. My last face-to-face group (damn you, Covid!) had eight players but 2-3 weren't consistent with attendance.

Re: What are you reading?

I'm reading The Accursed Kings series. Good stuff! I'm ready to begin book 4. The Accursed Kings (French: Les Rois Maudits) is a series of historical novels by French author Maurice Druon about the French monarchy in the 14th century. Published between 1955 and 1977, the series has been adapted as a...

Re: Settings you have never played / ran, but would like to ?

I've not run a campaign in HârnWorld but it is tempting. I'd need to house rule some things with regard to magic as C&C is a bit too high fantasy for the setting, IMO. Harn, rgr that. I've never played it or ran it, but I have mined the heck out of Harn things. Great sources for ideas However, ...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?

When running C&C, I don't use multi-classing. As Kayolan said, I prefer one character, one class. However, if a player proposes something creative and compelling that works within the class-and-a-half structure and also fits well within the campaign then I might allow it. If I'm running AD&D...

Re: Zero Magic C&C

Is there support for play of Castles and Crusades in a purely medieval setting, with bare minimum magical content if not zero magic? I tried searching the forums and it didn't seem to like me searching for 'no magic.' Not sure if there is but the idea has a certain appeal. It caused me to remember ...

Rif and Gritznak attacked each other but, at the early going, neither could get past the other's shield. Short Shanks ran up to stab the blinded goblin and kobolds who desperately fought back. A goblin and a kobold were put down fairly easily before the last kobold managed a wicked stab to Short Sha...
