Re: Castles & Crusades question - Perception
DrewD, Welcome to the board, always good to see a new face around here. For Perception I do wisdom checks (and yes clerics always have Wis Prime, but anyone can chose it as a prime if they want their character to be good at those things) and I have level added if what they are looking at/for falls ...

Re: Castles & Crusades question - Perception
First, hello forum! New guy here. :-) I recently decided to go back to 2nd edition because 5th ed has just kinda lost me. I miss the feeling of the old days. Still, once my group and I started playing, I found we were making house rules to make a few things make more sense. Then I found Castles &am...

How odd that the particular class ability is meant to repel angsty teens!

Re: North TX RPG Con 2024
This year I am going to be running the same event on two different days. My event is and AD&D 1E adventure that I wrote for Dragonsfoot a while back called "The Temple of Chaos." Basically it is an extension of the Keep on the Borderlands adventure. It will be offered on Wed at 7:00 P...

I have the Living Fantasy and Nation Builder books from BITD. I'm interested in the others but noticed expected delivery was listed as June 2025. That's a long way down the road....

Re: Mythic Con (West)
Thanks to @Ancalagon for running a great game Friday night. Great adventure, lots of fun. If you get a chance to play at his table, do it. It was cool meeting you and your son at MC West! I'm considering returning next year. Thanks for the kind words regarding the adventure and recommendation to pl...

Re: Mythic Con (West)
The countdown begins... this is our first convention. Looking forward to it. What's the time limit on the session? Emphasis mine. Excellent! I'm happy to be a small part of yours and your son's first convention. WRT to the time limit... there isn't one. ;) The scheduled time is 8 PM to midnight, bu...

Re: The Black Death as an encounter/situation for PC's
After reading many first hand accounts from the first half of the 2nd millennium; From Japan to Africa to the British Isles. I came up with simple "encounter data" that is pretty accurate as to probability of catching, dying or, surviving this event. When entering an infected inhabited ar...

Re: Mythic Con (West)
Can my son hang out and watch? Absolutely! Edit: I grabbed the last spot. We'll figure it out when we get there. Disappointed there were no rooms available at the con rate for just Friday night. I booked at a new Marriott that's pretty close. Looking forward to it! Glad you you snagged seat. Lookin...

Re: Wands/Command words
Do you need a command word to operate a Wand? I know in AD&D you do, but the description in the M&T doesn't mention it. This came up in my game yesterday. The wielder was under the effect of a Silence spell but wanted to use a wand. Thoughts? I like using "Abracadaver" as the comm...

Re: Mythic Con (West)
Badges are super cheap compared to DragonCon in ATL and GaryCon in Lake Geneva. MC West will also be A LOT smaller with regard to (WRT) head count which is appealing since I no longer care to deal with the enormous crowds of bigger cons.

Mythic Con (West)
Happy Holidays, Crusaders! I recently discovered Mythic Con West, a small convention in Asheville NC scheduled for March 1-3, 2024. https://gamesforallevents.com/ I've decided to give it a try. I intend to run 2 sessions of a C&C convention game I wrote that features pre-gens of 5th-6th levels. ...

North TX RPG Con 2024
Greetings All, I'm shifting gears in 2024 and opting for North Texas RPG Con (NTXRPG) in 2024 in favor of another trip to Gary Con. This will be my first trip to NTXRPG as my plans for attending in 2022 were derailed by illness. I'm really looking forward to attending! At the moment, I'm undecided o...

Re: Knight's Combat Dominance: How many rounds does it last?
I agree with you on that for the btb class. Which is sad, because back in the 1e 2e days Paladin and Cavileer were my 2 preferred classes. That said, when I did my HR for my girls Tolkienesk C&C game, I heavily HRed the class .... Heck I hred all the classes so it isn't surprising the knight an...
