Re: Players Handbook Corrections and Additions

I like the grappling/overbearring rules as they are. They are only a little more complex than the others rules, but not so much. And I like the encumbrance system too: it's easy and there's no difficult to sum up the encumbrances of the items. But if the trollord has further simplified it, well it s...

A question about the new Codex

When shall the new Codex of Aihrde be released as a pdf copy?
Is this stuff better than After winter dark? (that is: there is a little more detailed material about one region, obviously I am talking of new aenochia)

Re: What do you hope for with a 5th printing PHB?

I think the PHB is quite good as it is by now. If a new printing will come out, I hope it will have a short description of armours, weapons and the most exotic items, the capacity and speed of the various animals for trasportation and the rules about throwing and splashing oil, holy water and the li...

Re: Magic Weapon XP Values

Yes, as i understand you are correct. I tried to catch what math and calculation hide behind the xp value, but it's too difficult. I don't give xp if the PCs sell magic items, but only if they use them. The reward to selling them is gold, to use the is xp. I think this method is quite by the book, i...

Re: Movement and ranged attacks

Until now, I disallow totally movement in the same round of a ranged attack, probably because I was sure this was the same as in the 1st ed of AD&D. After I have read your post and reread the PHB, I think I allow it for my players. I think it may improve combat making it more dynamic.

Re: a new question about magic items

I have tried to read through the lines of the many lists: the only thing I have understood is that the xp value of potions and scroll is a flat 200 less than the gold value. the rest of the values in xps of the magic items has got behind some calculations that only who have done that can clarify.

a new question about magic items

I was reading the adventure Assault on blacktooth ridge and every time I find a magic item, I stop and calculate the value with the aid of tab of pag89 of M&T. I am one of those CKs that gives xp for magic items to players. Since I am used to do things like a battering ram, I didn't noticed the pile...

oh sorry, I thought it was the 4th printing because it has got the green cover as the PHB 4th printing. mine too is without cover. thank u to all: I have understood that only little details were introduced (bookmarks and graphics) in this upgrade so I don't have to reprint it all.

Re: Combat bonus to hit of an invisible character

After long days of thought I have changed the combat modifier table as: defender blind/attacker invisible: +4 defender invisible/ attacker blind: +8 That's make a huge more sense to me! PS: I hated to do that because I have broken one of the golden law under I make my own houserules, that is: "never...

Re: Initiative

Leave behind your experience with 3e and try to play rolling initiative every round: it's not heavy and it's more funny. Combat must be fast and chaotic: now you have the advantage of being the first in the round, then you shall be worry of being in the last position.

Re: Let's talk house rules and the CKG!

to say the truth the list of what I use of the ckg will be too long, because there is a lot of good stuff in there. with that being said, there are a lot of rules from the ckg that I use, but I must re-elaborate them: sometimes I find these rules a bit too heavy for me. so I cut something here and t...

Re: Tracking by non rangers

Anyone can track anything in my game. As usual, if tracking isn't your class skill, you don't add your level. Tracking, even if successfull, if tried by a non-ranger character, is less effective: you cannot understand the number, the kind and little details of the chased ones.

Combat bonus to hit of an invisible character

I swear i have seen this in this section of forum, but after a search, nothing shows. this situation arose yesterday night: aninvisible character try to hit a monster. Re: Armor Class for Helmets...

I fully have lost this rule on the PHB, but for sure I have read a lot of pages about it on the section about rules of the 1e of AD&D at Dragonfoot. I don't have applied it yet and I must see how my players will react to it. I like the approach of Arduin: this keeps it simple. I'll go with a 1 on 1d...

You know, I kinda like this Doominicus. It's sort of a collaberation of all we've chatted about. I have ruled in a simpler way (I hope): 1)you can always walk next to an enemy if you are not angaged in a melee 2)if the enemy isn't yet engaged in a melee, he automatically turns to face you 3)if the enemy is engaged you can freely walk past him and attack him from the rear 4)if you are engaged wi...

1) well, finally i've got it: it's called Energy resistance, and I didn't find it because I searched for it in R, not E (sorry I'm a little dumb). Re: Calculating magic items gold piece values

I still don't understand 1) ring of resistance: it doesn't appear on my copy of M&T 2)I disagree with you: yes, they are always considered to be 1st level, but for the price you don't need the level (pag89), instead the bonus squared x250. so i.g.: a ring +2 for the saves against poison would be 100...

2) save/ability bonus (limited) what does the word "limited" stand for?
I cant find these even in the srd

Need some help

I have purchased some time ago the CK screen. On it there is a little chart with Range and modifiers. I cannot find that anywhere in the PHB. The smartest thing I have in my mind is that the range that appears in the ranged weapons list of the PHB are used like Increments range. So a bow short shoot...
