Re: Quick Question...

Anyone try tweaking it not to be separated by 6 points? More like 4 or 5 point difference?

Also, Does anyone else just make everything a challenge of 18 and if you are using a prime, take a +6?

Re: Is there the Carrion Crawler in C&C?

I forgot all about that part of these pages... the Domesdays always have monsters... like #10 has Su Monster and Displacer Beast I think. I have the rot grubs and the gas spores (linked to Primordial eye) just finished and used in an adventure... waiting for them to open the door and release the gas...

Flesh Crawlers infesting a group of bloated Zombies... "Zombies are so easy... hey why are only some turning, oh well, just have to kill them, they're slow... exploding zombies with flesh crawlers... great fun.

Is hollow world like the Niven Ring World or the crazy high future multi level created worlds of I. Banks? I have always wanted to have a game setting in P.C. Re: Am I wrong or there's a loophole in the encumbrance rules?

Here is an easy way, have them sketch their PC, even a simple stick figure works, then have them add all their stuff in the right place... you can use the pictures on the back of your DM sceen... for when wastage or failed fire ball save or some such destroys what is on their body, but first use is ...

Re: Combat Maneuvers, Conversions, etc

There is a great deal of value in letting math, logic, and statistics into the game (behind the scenes), if more of that occurs, things only get better.

Re: Combat Maneuvers, Conversions, etc

Go to the other website Knights of the Crusade and download the Domesday #8 I think (if not 8 it was 7 or 9) there is a conversion write up in there, but I fear you will not find it math rich, more concept oriented. Those Domesday do have some math in them for you though... Happy hunting... the CKG ...

Re: innovation to help games run smoother

Plan ahead. Especially for smart opponents and double true for spell casters... creatures in their layer double that. Mundane and magic items placed to be needed as they drive back invaders or flee. You know basic attacks from parties... centuries old monsters do too... they will use all their abili...

Re: innovation to help games run smoother

Many of my tips are to get PCs more involved... let them roll their own critical damage against themselves... let them roll for random stuff.. 6 gems are found, one for each PC... let each roll for their value after they have it in hand and look close... not always faster, but in the end tell the st...

Re: innovation to help games run smoother

When spell casters cast a spell I make them "describe the casting" tell what V, S, M components are involved and read key details of the spell (I know them, but I need my PCs to know them and others at the table can see more detail and wonder in the casting of magic).... they can check range etc and...

critical fumble and hit charts make things fast and unpredictable for 1s and 20s.. not sure they smooth things, but they are enjoyed... the more complex and longer the more fun, its just a table to look up and make one roll and wait to see what happens... humor and gore and detail that can be custom...

Re: innovation to help games run smoother

Other idea,, initiative is written down on small dry erase board each combat... someone besides the DM is responsible each round to say who is in this round, who is next, and who is on deck... helps stop the spell caster from... "oh its my turn..." and wasting time... keeps people thinking and focus...

Re: innovation to help games run smoother

we roll initiative once at the beginning of each combat and it stays in that order for the rest of combat. I used to roll d10 +1 if DEX is prime, highest to lowest... Now I'm experimenting with a roll of 2d4... more centered around middle and the DEX prime can move folks out and those with special a...

I've run a group where the monsters (a zealous order of unique undead (zombie like)) kept beating the PCs down, or several times to the PCs it looked like they needed to retreat. yeah smaller races should be rather weak, but a 35 # dog can be damaging... so put a blade in their hand. Another grappling question, if "Freedom of movement" lets you not get Held, webbed, or entangled or move through quicksand with ease, I would also assume you could not be grappled or help no matter how big and strong or skilled the creature holding you be it a giant, a python, or a dragon paw ...
