Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Game materials I've been reading lately: Advanced Fighting Fantasy (Deluxe Edition) A Curious Tome of Forgotten Lore (pretty much an OSRIC/AD&D sourcebook) Kingdoms of Kalamar (a setting sourcebook, came out for 3e but it's systemless) Fantastic Heroes & WItchery (OSR game, a gem imo) Codex...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Just got The Town of Kalas for C&C. Liking it so far. I was looking for a town setting to drop into my campaign for a scenario down the road and this looks to fit the bill. I forgot I had this. Looking for something to fit in as my City of Greyhawk, since I'm not a big fan of 2E's version. How ...

So if I'm not wrong the new PHB printing is the 8th and we are awaiting it, right?
Then there is the 5th printing of the CKG and the 5th printing of the M&T book. Am I correct?
Yes for the PHB & M&T. I think the CKG is on the 3rd edition.

UPDATE: First surgery done; two abdominal tumors removed along with a bit of my small intestine. Doc said all went really well; no signs of further spread there; and am now home recovering. Almost no pain unless moving or sitting up. Dressing off tomorrow (sun the 14th) and staples come out on the ...

I'm not sure on AA in particular, but in general the Troll's focus seems to have been on 5E for well over a year maybe 2.

Sounds like a great wrap up to a story arc! Good luck to your son on collage, hope he enjoys 2 a days in August heat ! Yea, I'm sure he'll be having fun! We officially wrapped up yesterday. I yanked some stuff from one of the Gord the Rogue books. My son's Ranger (big surprise right) is from Celene...

Re: C&C Adventures located in Greyhawk?

Nice. Indeed, some of those Rappan Athuk encounters are practically designed to be TPK's. Our Swords & Wizardry party is currently in the Maze there, having survived a tough fight in one of the lesser temples to Orcus, where they lost (but raised) one PC and had another get level drained by a s...

Re: C&C Adventures located in Greyhawk?

So my son is off to college next week and I wanted to end the current campaign arc before he leaves. I pulled out Lvl 4 of Rappan Athuk and used this as the inner sanctum/temple of the party's nemesis, a priest of Orcus. I placed the temple in the SW Suss forest, not all that far from where I have t...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Treasures of the Mummy Queen , limited edition T&T solo module. It is quite funny that there's a page-long diatribe from Ken St. Andre (not the author but creator of T&T) on mapping the dungeon (since its a solo, its not usually needed anyway but in case one wants to do it for group play) a...

Re: Planar Book?

I love stuff dealing with the Outer planes in general, but I'm skeptical based on what the Trolls came out with in the Tome of the Unclean. I might harp on this a little, but I really think they missed a huge opportunity with this one. If they KS it, I'll pass.

Re: C&C Adventures located in Greyhawk?

So after much deliberation I decided that I am not going to be running the Aihrde setting but instead running Greyhawk in CY 576. For any that know, that is the 1st Edition AD&D Greyhawk setting at the same time period Gary Gygax and the TSR authors were writing their adventures for. Everything...

Just started the Wheel of Time Series. I had read the first book 20 years ago and thought it was okay, but I was abroad at the time and getting English novels in Taiwan wasn't cheap. So I never continued. Upon re-reading I'm enjoying it more now, at least the first book. Hopefully I'll make it all ...

Re: C&C Adventures located in Greyhawk?

Barrowmaze & Rappan Athuk are obvious choices though not set in Greyhawk. But both are superior to the Bloodstone Pass modules (FR) that also featured Orcus as the nemesis. Of all these I think Rappan Athuk is pretty easy to drop into Greyhawk. I suppose you could use WG4 and swap Orcus for Tha...

Looking for an adventure to finish up my current campaign arc. BBG is a priest of Orcus that has been the party's nemesis, so the adventure would probably need to involve a temple and lots of undead. Any suggestions?

I came to C&C after not having gamed since the early 2E years. I was working out of town for an extended period of time and thought playing "D&D" over the phone with my son would help with me being away. I had bought the basic 3E books, but really didn't want to get into all the ex...

Yes, there have been a few. I think I have the most recent version, bought a few years ago. I did a quick search on the Troll's website, but couldn't find one. I assume they're out of print.

That said, I do like the idea behind advantage / disadvantage, especially as you said rewarding them for role playing etc. But as someone with horrid dice luck … I prefer bonusses of plusses (and the more plusses the better to overcome my dice god's curse). You may just need to try a different prog...

There are supposed to be versions released for several systems, including C&C. It remains to be seen what will actually happen. The Trolls did resurrect it, but it's still somewhat in limbo. What I've seen so far looks good, but I'm not sure it was worth pissing off most of the backers. The comm...
