These look cool, but honestly I just use legos in my campaign.

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?
That said, I do like the idea behind advantage / disadvantage, especially as you said rewarding them for role playing etc. But as someone with horrid dice luck … I prefer bonusses of plusses (and the more plusses the better to overcome my dice god's curse). You may just need to try a different prog...

Re: Marmoreal Tomb
There are supposed to be versions released for several systems, including C&C. It remains to be seen what will actually happen. The Trolls did resurrect it, but it's still somewhat in limbo. What I've seen so far looks good, but I'm not sure it was worth pissing off most of the backers. The comm...

Re: Monsters that are stronger (or weaker) than you remember
I thought the giants in that series were the exact same as in the MM? Tough series regardless, probably my favorite.
Looking back at the 1E dragons, they are definitely glass cannons. Always thought they should be more like what the C&C versions are.

Re: Seax Swords
Traditionally the Seax was more of a secondary weapon. More than a dagger, but less than a sword. Good to use in a shield wall for thrusting.

Re: Criticals & Fumbles
Natural 20 - roll extra d6 damage
Natural 1 - roll Dex save. If saved, treat as a missed attack. If you miss the save, it's a fumble (dropped weapon, broken bow string, etc), so you lose your next turn.

I keep going back to Baldur's Gate II. I'd like to go back and play my Battle for Middle Earth games, but my DVD drive is down, so no go there.

I've never played in Aihrde, although I have some of the modules. Still don't know much about it, but sounds like a fun place to adventure. Is it anything like Greyhawk?

Re: What are you reading?
Currently reading The Treason of Isengard. Looking for another good historical fiction or fantasy series. I tried the first book in the Arthur series by Bernard Cornwell, but only got through a bit before putting it down. It was disappointing compared to the Last Kingdom series, which I loved.

I can't. I can barely moderate it, not touch board configuration - that takes actual admin access. What I MEAN is that whomever has the POWER should do that. If you are a Mod you SHOULD be able to contact an Admin. No? No. I can contact just as many persons as you can. Besides, I don't even know wh...

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?
Well... it's just been my favorite, and it's what we played in the early 80's when I gamed the most. Nentir Vale was fun, as was Kingdoms of Kalamar. I think a lot depends on how the DM handles.

Re: New Group (pronounced "OLD") via Internet.. start up advice???
Now that will come down to how much you trust your players, but I feel if you are in a group that would cheat like that you may not want to be in that group . Agreed. Being with a group you can trust is essential. The "theatre of the mind" works well for our group. I don't think Lurker wo...

I've ignored Encumbrance up until now, but am trying to phase it in. I don't like Illusionists or their ability to heal. Totally ignored.

Re: innovation to help games run smoother
we roll initiative once at the beginning of each combat and it stays in that order for the rest of combat. I used to roll d10 +1 if DEX is prime, highest to lowest... Now I'm experimenting with a roll of 2d4... more centered around middle and the DEX prime can move folks out and those with special ...

Re: Adventurer's Backpack...
Arcane thief, Archer, Divine Knight, Ethereal Knight, Foresworn, Magic User, Oathsworn, Pacer, Primal Druid, Rune Mark, Seeker, Skald, Thief, Warrior Priest. I don't think any of these make the PHB classes obsolete. I haven't dug deep into the spells, but from a quick glance they aren't world shaking.
