<t>Originally I thought I'd just use the skill list from the Rules Cyclopedia, but as I started working on it, it seemed better to go with something inspired by 3E, with a few ideas borrowed from True20. Currently my skill list looks like this...<br/> <br/> Acrobatics (Dex); Armor Penalty<br/> <br/>...

For sure. I think I'm just going to go for a wisdom check instead and see how that goes.

And since I've been thinking about the nature of disguises lately, shouldn't it be a wisdom check to see through a disguise instead of an intelligence check? Traditionally wisdom is the attribute of perceptive tasks, no?

<t>Oh yeah, I totally forgot the illusionist has a Disguise class ability as well. The description there appears to be missing a +12 modifier if the impersonated individual is intimate with the observer.<br/> <br/> Anyway, the way the book reads to me, it sounds like when an assassin puts on a disgu...

[2nd printing] errata for Assassin's Disguise Ability?

<t>I have a question about the assassin's Disguise class ability as described in the 2nd printing of the Players Handbook. In the last paragraph, it says that suspicious individuals observing a disguised assassin are allowed an intelligence check to penetrate the disguise. Then it lists modifiers fo...

Yeah, that sounds pretty good actually. Although I might try it with a +3 bonus to the class ability instead of a CL+3 to the skill...the idea being that a task doesn't become inherently more difficult because there classes who can do it better.

<t>That sounds like a pretty good system, Mythago. Unfortunately for me, I feel like I need to work in a system where characters get some skill points each level to spend on either increasing skills they already have, or learning new ones. Mechanically the system I'm trying to work out is very simil...

<t>Thanks for the replies, everyone.<br/> <br/> Personally I'd love to just run the game as written and rely on SIEGE checks for skill checks, but some of my potential players really like spending points on "builds" for their characters. For that reason, going with something like 1e's secondary skil...

Creating a Skill List

<t>I'm currently working on a skill list that's basically modified from 3e, but I'm also using stuff from the Rules Cyclopedia. For those who use some kind of skill system, do you use skills that do the same thing as a class ability? I'm trying to decide whether I should have skills such as Climb, H...

I suppose I probably have enough 3e material where I'd probably have no trouble coming up with a list of feats. I do have a Rules Cyclopedia and it's where I'm probably going to get my skill list from =)

<t>Yeah, a simple system is what I'm looking for. Personally I wouldn't mind just using the SIEGE engine to drive everything, but some of the people that I'd be trying to entice into a game definitely like to feel like they have choices when building their characters. I'm hoping that a relatively si...

Converting 3e Feats

<t>I'm going to be trying out C&C for a game, and I think I'm going to use a simple list of 3e feats to appeal to potential players who want to feel like they have some concrete ability to customize their character. I know there are C&C players out there using feats. Do you use trees such as...

using 0-level Dungeon Crawl Classics

Has anyone ever run any of the Dungeon Crawl Classics modules written for 0-level characters, but using 1st level characters? I'm wondering if it would be fun, or if the challenge level would be too easy for the PC's.

Ah, okay. So really you're just rolling the DC as printed if prime, and figuring what to add to 18 if not prime.

Thanks!
