Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
This week I have been mostly reading.... Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game....Powered by Gurps. Bit of a dry read so far but it looks like a good game. I like how they did the character classes. Will make a nice change to C&C when I fancy running something a bit more crunchy. I wanted to get a co...

Re: NOT buying new stuff is hard...
Stand firm! :) I’ve been weak as well...but to the benefit of C&C...Classic Monsters and Monsters and Treasures of Aihrde in print. I deleted and sold every other game except the Leagues of Adventure stuff that I am currently running (which had a good first game)... got to limit myself to one or...

It defies logic! I know I have enough. I know I don’t have enough time to play all these games, let alone read them properly...I know my budget is tight...but still....Ooh this one uses d6’s...I love d6’s...click lol

Re: Returning Home
Thanks, I ran some C&C a few years ago (back when the 4th Printing PHB was all the rage). I enjoyed it. I’d been running 4th Edition D&D, which although I liked for what it was...was pretty sluggish pace wise...C&C was a breath of fresh old(school) air! I ran Assault on Blacktooth Ridge,...

Re: Mounted Combat
Hi thanks for looking, I thought I was going mad looking for the ‘mounted combat’ section...it’s a bit confusing to have it rolled into the class ability though and reference it directly before. When it mentions penalties but doesn’t give any that also threw me off. I guess it just means to say that...

Re: Returning Home
I wish I could afford those leather editions...they look great. Btw, I didn’t want to come across as being a grouch before. I love the game and don’t want to sound too negative etc :) I’d say welcome back to Snoring Rock but I’m kind of new so it didn’t sound right lol. I used to be on the forum but...

Re: Mounted Combat
Hi thanks for your reply. It’s just that it says ‘fights without penalty’ in the second part but says ‘has some difficulty’ in the first part. I can’t find any rules for mounted combat and yet it references them. Maybe I just fumbled my perception check lol.

Mounted Combat
Hi all, please forgive me if this is an old topic or if I am being stoopid and not reading/looking at the book correctly... It’s not a massive deal but...I am a bit confused by Mounted Combat in C&C. On page 34 of the PHB it mentions (see mounted combat) in the Knight description..but where is t...

Couldn’t agree more Treebore (almost rhymes). Currently on my gaming shelf...C&C, DCC, Leagues of Adventure, Frontier Space and Swords & Wizardry. They are all great and all slightly different beasts. I enjoy a variety of games and it keeps me fresh and inspired to play. I really like my C&a...

Re: level of C&C output
I bought the Gaxmoor pdf this week and it looks really good from the short time I have had to look at it. I think delays are unfortunate but it can't be easy juggling all the apples of a game company that has a weight of many years product and expectation behind it.

Re: Saving Throws
Great, thanks for the input peeps. Think I'll just keep things as they are in the rulebook. I'm not trying to emulate any specific D&D edition and it sounds like it works fine and the issues I've seen around are more about personal tastes of difficulty etc..I'm okay with the game still making sa...

Saving Throws
Hi all, I am returning to C&C after a few years playing other games. I've skooted about and read some bits and pieces on the internet about modifying the Saving Throws...to things like using Spell Level instead of Caster Level..etc I was wondering what people's experiences were of doing this typ...

Hi, I don't have Amazing Adventures or Victorious (only so many games I have time to play..would if I could etc) but I've had a lot of fun with Ubiquity System games: Hollow Earth Expedition and Leagues of Adventure. They have lots of source material and ideas for pulp and Victorian roleplaying, esp...

Re: Favorite Halloween (or Seasonal) Adventure?
A couple spring to mind..that I enjoyed and so did the players. The Westerfield Incident from 'Bumps in the Night'...a non-mythos Call of Cthulhu adventure anthology from Pagan Publishing. Nasty goings on around a small community. The Dark Seed...a Savage Worlds Hellfrost adventure from Triple Ace G...

Re: Middle Earth Mashup
Hey Lord Dynel, yes I totally get what you say. I guess my group is very flexible with regard to systems. We are pretty lazy when it comes to reworking and converting material though so would rather just go with the original version etc. One beauty of C&C is that converting and setting games in ...

I'm captain boring. Always gravitate towards Human Wizards and Fighter types...that 70's Bakshi Lord of the Rings film made too big an impression on me...Gandalf, Strider and Boromir have had many new names and hairstyles under my thumb

Re: Middle Earth Mashup
I think 'The One Ring' is the best interpretation of Middle Earth I have played. I played a MERP campaign for about 10 years using Rolemaster and I have played the 5e Adventures version as well. The 5e version has some odd quirks which means that lots of attacks resolve against saving throws rather ...

Re: You're not gonna believe this, but apparently it's true.
Hi, with all this talk of the TRS 80... I wrote a piece of music (I sell tunes for licensed use) inspired by my memories of these old machines and the like. I'm not in any way trying to sell it you or promoting my business but I just wanted to share it with you as it seemed relevant to this discussi...

Re: 5th Edition
Hello all, my thoughts on D&D 5th..I've run it and played it a little bit. All the classes having more or less the same 'to hit' bonuses feels off. Multiple attacks and extra hit points plus a few other quirks are there to give classes like the humble Fighter an edge in combat..but this still se...
