Re: The great summer ride

Nice I like the feel of 'Ares is board so annoys his sister with a proxy war' which has ramifications in the setting … Hmmmm with you having each area have it's own societal set of gods. How are they going to like the annoying little Greek boy mucking things up in their areas too, or on the edge of ...

Re: Addicted to Megadungeons

I see your points completely, but they're still fun to read, at the least. And I do think that Gillespie does a pretty good job with his in terms of the realism and the way they're constructed. One is mostly undead but spread out over a wide area (Barrowmaze). Another is a series of buttes/canyons ...

I'm there with you on this. Well, I don't play old or new versions of O D&D, but I can see what you mean. I've actually been doing some converting of old OD&D and old 1e/2e adventures for ideas for my girls C&C Tolkien game and can see the difference between the feel for the rules/style ...

Re: Addicted to Megadungeons

I couldn't believe I missed this one, but then I saw when it started .. 2018 … so I don't feel that bad now. It appears, as normal, that I am the oddity. I have never been a fan of giant mega dungeons. Not surprising since I lean more toward the lower magic level and more historic flavor of gaming. ...

It was a shock for me when I played other system after high school when I went in the military that were SUPER crunchy compared to MSH

Nostalgia can become toxic. Very so I have found. Especially when you get into the 'things were better in my day' trap. Oh but they were better back in the day ... no rule bloat, no min making, no meta gaming, no murder hobos, just good fun role playing ... well there was the 2e splat books and com...

Jahydin O that is a given with 'can't waltz into any settlement and expect to be treated the same'. Since my setting for my face to face is Middle Earth, it is VERY culture specific and there are those inherent issues even between humans. A Dunnman waling into a Rohan village will be treated differe...

Fizz, I'm with you on this one The thing I've added, to keep Clerics from being the masters of perception, is that the PC's level is only added if the target of perception (the key info to be gained) is in the wheel house of the PC. In the above example of spotting a camouflaged character, that is i...

I have hung pictures/images/sketches of what is to come on the outside, I do not point at them, I just hang them there, some folks always look and notice, others never look... but that was in days of live face to face gaming... use the outside of the screens more than the inside. 1). I lean toward heroic games, but not to the level of they are super heroes in medieval time, so I like the chance for them to have some high stats. So, I do the roll 4, reroll any 1, keep highest 3. Place as you want. I also add stats like Luck/Weal (love that stat form Hero’s Journey) some time ...

I may be a rarity here, but I think the -6 of having 1 less prime is to harsh. In all the years since I started playing C&C I have only played 1 non-human character. That -6 was devastating to the elf thief. Whic 2 of the 3 needed primes to pick, Dex, Wis, or Int ???? no matter what some of the ...

One thing I'd probably steal from 5e is to replace giving humans an extra prime with giving them +1 to every stat instead. Hakdov, welcome I agree with you on the Humans get extra into their stats . I house ruled it that they get d4 +2 points to add where wanted - to make it a little random, but al...

I like the idea of that fear effect, especially tied to CHA.

Damage at the lower level may be a bit much, but make 2 spells one low level, and then a beefed up version that harms the enemies of Elbereth / Varda.

Yeah I like that 2 spells for the price of 1 idea .

Thanks !
