Re: What is in your perfect homemade DM screen ?

I have hung pictures/images/sketches of what is to come on the outside, I do not point at them, I just hang them there, some folks always look and notice, others never look... but that was in days of live face to face gaming... use the outside of the screens more than the inside. Rgr that. I have a...

Re: What gives??? The Boards are Alive again???

Total subject change (brief, hopefully), but the term "sheriff" is actually a composite of two words. The British equivalent of "county" (roughly) is "shire", and the person, traditionally, responsible for tax collection and law enforcement (I suppose, in a generally l...

1). I lean toward heroic games, but not to the level of they are super heroes in medieval time, so I like the chance for them to have some high stats. So, I do the roll 4, reroll any 1, keep highest 3. Place as you want. I also add stats like Luck/Weal (love that stat form Hero’s Journey) some time ...

I have always loved giving the classes not in the middle of the melee chances at perception to notice things that the front line tanks may not have a chance to see, but will need to know about real soon ! Things like the mage noticing what do dads the orc shaman has dangling around his neck or stuff...

Re: What is in your perfect homemade DM screen ?

Thanks for the ideas I did add the cleric turn rules. I do play a cleric here and there so I am familiar with them, but even then there are times I vapor lock on it and have to look it up on the book in the middle of the game, so yeah as a DM I need it easy access. I had already added the combat mod...

NICE ! Depending on the era, what at least 2 or 3 sub-cultures in France, and 3 to 4 in Italy. Now when you cross into Italy, is their stop in Malan, and if it is ... is it the Malan in the reign of terror where the Duke would release his dogs into the streets and hunt down people for fun ???? Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?

I may be a rarity here, but I think the -6 of having 1 less prime is to harsh. In all the years since I started playing C&C I have only played 1 non-human character. That -6 was devastating to the elf thief. Whic 2 of the 3 needed primes to pick, Dex, Wis, or Int ???? no matter what some of the ...

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?

One thing I'd probably steal from 5e is to replace giving humans an extra prime with giving them +1 to every stat instead. Hakdov, welcome I agree with you on the Humans get extra into their stats . I house ruled it that they get d4 +2 points to add where wanted - to make it a little random, but al...

So, time is clicking down to the face to face C&C Middle-Earth game 0 with my girls and their friend and her dad. I have the house rule finished for character creation, Middle Earth Race/Culture, and modifications to C&C classes (and some home brew classes from Me Rig & Tree). I have the...

I don't post as much as I did in the beginning (2005ish), mainly because a lot of the things have been discussed or answered (with variations). You know me, I'm not a HUGE fan of the thousand years of winter dark - no sunlight ice age. No plant or anima would ever survive that. Also, with the different societies (with different pantheons implied), so I'm all about changing the BtB setting/history. However, I think Unklar is a lie goes a ste...

Re: help with light spell ideas

I like the idea of that fear effect, especially tied to CHA.

Damage at the lower level may be a bit much, but make 2 spells one low level, and then a beefed up version that harms the enemies of Elbereth / Varda.

Yeah I like that 2 spells for the price of 1 idea .

Thanks !

help with light spell ideas

Ok been looking and thinking about light spells in context of Middle Earth types magics So, Light (cantrip) is equal to a torch, nothing special there. Tripping, Pulling a rider off his mount ???

Went through and worked the house rule equipment list for my coming Middle-Earth C&C game (taking out the 'high medieval' arms and armor, and retooling the cost to fit a more realistic medieval economy) and stumbled onto a question). Some of the weapons, even before high medieval eras, were made...

This is a good question and one I need to think about since I'm getting ready to start a face to face with 3 out of the 4 players being new or very novice. One plus in my favor, it will be a Middle Earth based setting, so no a lot of classic 'old D&D' dungeon crawls. SO, the problem of the playe...

As long as the 20 is equal in goodness as the 1 is in badness, I think many systems work. I personally like the rule of doubling the damage (dice and modifiers) on a 20. On a 1, something happens (dropped weapon for example) that may require the player to lose their next action. Describing the effe...
