lol, the first episode is rather jarring for people who haven't read the novels or manga

Re: Info on all the different printings?
As for the CK's Guide, what is the difference between the 1st and 2nd printings? The 1st has 292 pages and the second has 352. What got added? And will the 3rd printing be bigger or smaller?

Re: Info on all the different printings?
I've found some info. A older post that gives a lot of product data here- https://www.trolllord.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=11065&p=255161&hilit=3rd+printing#p255161 and probably the best source here at rpggeek- https://www.rpggeek.com/rpgitem/45710/castles-crusades-players-handbook ...

Info on all the different printings?
Is there a post or page somewhere that details the differences between all the various printings of the rulebooks? As someone trying to get back into C&C, it is kind of confusing at this point.

Re: What else have we let fall away?
For my next C&C game, I really want to incorporate the Guild idea of breaking quests into difficulty ranks. Looks like there's 10 ranks, so Porcelain would be levels 1-2, Obsidian 3-4, and so on until Platinum 19-20. Jam up 5 or so dungeons 3 ranks around the parties level and let them select w...

Re: What else have we let fall away?
You have no idea how happy that made me watching that anime, ! I was going to mention it too, but figured no one would know what I was talking about. Glad to see it's more popular than I thought! It really is the best D&D cartoon ever made. It's very old school in how the characters appro...

Re: Listen "skill" fixed for my rules
Sounds good to me. I dislike clerics being better at seeing and hearing things than everyone else. It should just be a matter of race (elves are better) and class (thieves are better).

Re: Keeping it interesting for all...
Here's an old wotc article on just this sort of thing- https://web.archive.org/web/20090602052146/http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ab/20060728a It's a real shame that they don't seem to have these articles still available on their website. Edit- found an archive of all the old 3rd edition ar...

Re: What else have we let fall away?
I see alignment as just a simple indicator of personality and motivation. Not something absolute. And alignment languages just seem weird to me. Never used them.

Re: What else have we let fall away?
1) 4d6, drop lowest. I think OSR games that aren't emulating OD&D do themselves a disservice by continuing to push 3d6 in order as the way to roll up characters. It really only works for OD&D where you barely have any modifiers for your stats. Outside of that, you are going to end up with so...

Re: Keeping it interesting for all...
Same sort of thing really. Give thieves stuff to steal, traps to find, walls to climb, and locks to pick. Give wizards scrolls to find, magical weirdness to investigate, magic items to detect and identify, and creatures to fight that is much easier to beat with the right spell. Give clerics undead t...

Re: Where did all the Named spells go??
OSR games can't use names like that because they are copyrighted. Wotc made the names generic probably so they could include them in open content and also so they fit better in campaign worlds other than Greyhawk.

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?
But remember that a prime is an effective +6. A bonus of +6 to any attempted task with an entire attribute is not a trivial advantage. Not everything that characters will attempt are defined by class abilities. So it will make humans generally more flexible when the unexpected arises. That said, i ...

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?
Naw, the range of the ability scores is assumed to be for humans. THEY are the norm. Other races are compared AGAINST that norm. THAT is the core rational behind ability scores in D&D (and its clones.) Humans have always been given advantage for being more flexible. In 1st it was that they coul...

Re: Rules that not in C&C. Could they be part of it?
One thing I'd probably steal from 5e is to replace giving humans an extra prime with giving them +1 to every stat instead.

Re: 7th Print PHB
Well, they're about to fulfill the 8th printing KS, so it will be awhile before you see anything like that methinks: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ckg/castles-and-crusades-roads-to-adventure They're also putting out a new printing of the Castle Keeper's Guide, which will feature lots of new ...

Re: 7th Print PHB
I would definitely back a ks for a phb with new artwork. Get some old school D&D artists - Erol Otus, Clyde Caldwell, Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley, Keith Parkinson, Daniel R Horne, etc. Probably expensive to do, but I think a ks could definitely fund this and it would draw a LOT of attention.
