man, I love the Silmarillon and Unfinished Tales. In fact, when the Silmarillon first came out ('77? '78? '79?) I read it so avidly that all my initial D&D characters were named after First Age elves (Finwe, etc).
I'll definitely be checking out the new 'tale'.

<t>I stopped reading Jordan after 4 or 5 or 6 volumes (it was a while ago). Not only do I dislike starting a long series in the middle (before it's finished), but I found myself loathing many of the characters. This'll sound picky, but I felt that he couldn't write believable female characters (esp....

Players? Judges? Anyone?
Just getting a first post into this forum.
I've mostly been a GM recently, but I'd sure like to be a player in a JG campaign. Anyone in the Piedmont (NC) region tempted to start a campaign? Pretty please?

<t>Geleg was my long-running Ars Magica mage, a character I played as someone who was more epicure than hero ... although he was invariably led (quaking) into doing (sometimes) heroic things he didn't want to do. Ultimately he sacrificed his life to save the covenant. (sounds hokey, but he was great...

<r>I'm eager to hear the Trolls' official take on this. Guess it'll have to wait til after GenCon *sigh*<br/> <br/> BTW, I mentioned the news over on ENworld. <t>I loved hobby stores in the mid '70s - for their Avalon Hill Wargames (Gettysburg, Alexander the Great, etc) and Tamiya tank models. My dad was also into both of these hobbies. One day in '78 or '79 my parents and my friend Chris and I went to Heritage Hobbies in Needham and there was this cool-l...

<t>I mostly lurk here and elsewhere (NC, DF) because I don't have a chance to play much these days - were I playing regularly I'd have more to say and more questions to ask. I do buy a lot of product and read it - and I lurk online - for vicarious gaming satisfaction in the absence of the real thing...

<t>Thanks guys. As I said, it was a real rush. I had a blast, even if we were all a bit rusty. Enon Tor is a nice intro, although I'm sorry we didn't get into Halfling's Hall (next up will be KOTB and then Listonshire, I think ... or maybe Assassin's Knot - my wife will not be a pure delver, I suspe...

<t>Thanks, Guys. I appreciate all the help. It was nice to find that all my ref skills (last employed in a fun Tekumel game in the mid 1990s ... hmmm, let's just say a while ago) hadn't disapppeared. Shortly I'll be able to coopt my daughter into playing (she's five) and then it'll be gaming heaven....
