Re: Low level shaman magic items ???

Make the ring able to make a sword into a flame sword. Give it a few levels and let it do a fireball or such every so often. By that time they should have other magical items to help take up the slack. The brooch could imbue the arrows with lightening like a shocking grasp type level. A few characte...

RIP Ursula K. Le Guin

Passed away at age 88 at her home in Portland, OR Monday 1-22-18 after several months of illness.

The Wizard of Earthsea was my big push into fantasy before I started gaming (unlike the more common Conan the Barbarian crowd) right alongside Tolkein and Lewis. Another icon for the genre now gone.

Re: FLGS Update

Being in WotC's and Paizo's stomping grounds, most of the FLGS' here are loaded with 5E and Pathfinder. That being said, Seattle has a huge gaming community, with plenty of stores. The closest one to me is near UW csmpus, but he has a pretty diverse collection; I actually picked up some C&C and...

Re: FLGS Update

Have a new FLGS, Legends of Gamers, opening up about an hour north of me. The owner ran the one shop, Ancient Wonders, that was a treasure trove of games and comics before the Hwy Dept cut his access off and his building in half killing the store a couple years back. Will have to go check it out whe...

Re: Forty foot cube or fourty cubic feet big difference.

Otherwise, there would be no point in playing a wizard since granting the illusionist physical effects and such coupled with the ability to mimic ANY wizard spell with the image spells would make the wizard the more restrictive class. Not at all! Illusionists are restricted in many ways even if the...

Re: Metamorphosis Alpha for SIEGE?

Liked GW though I didn't get into it until 2rd ed and it was not really GM friendly per se as opposed to other games at the time. Likewise on running it as a serious campaign though. The crowd I was around in north WA- Puget Sound region actually considered MA more gonzo than they did GW given the m...

I will either have something in mind when I make the character, thus molding the character to fit the name/concept or use Gary's Book of Names to find something that picques my interest.

Re: FLGS Update

Have two FLGS left here. One is purely a CCG shop and the other is similar with a side of WH40k and 5e splitting a single set of shelves and that's it for the RPGs. The board games they carry is pretty much the same selection you can find at Target or Walmart.

But to have the same spell cancel the same spell.. magic missile vs itself? Yup. Equal and opposite reaction/opposing like force type thing...or more like fighting fire with a back fire. Re: Spell Reversals

Keep in mind too that for every decision you make outside of the 'norm' as it were, you are going to have to carry that forward through the rest of the campaign which can build up into a LOT of paperwork and a pain in the arse to keep track of. Tree probably has the best magic modifier rules in his ...

Re: What is needed for a successful ‘high magic’ setting ??

I tend to run a high magic game normally which doesn't really depend on any tweakage of the rules so much I think as it does instilling that sense of wonder via the setting itself. You mentioned flying pirate ships and floating castles. Those are good starts though they should also not be used so of...

Re: Cleric Domains

Another method, if you have the CKG and don't mind playing a little loose with the domains, is to use the mana point system from the CKG. Spells cast by the cleric from within their deity's spheres of influence cost fewer mana than other spells. So a cleric of a healing deity casting a cure serious ...

You can do a bunch of look up for 3.5 rules and such too. D&D Wiki for incorporeal critters basically has them unaffected by any physical attack and even magical only has a 50% chance of doing damage at all, including holy water and such. Unless it is a ghost touch imbued weapon or armor which a...
