Re: Changes Since 1st Printing?

Well, shoot. I bought new copies of 1e just to replace them without using them. Thanks for the reply, though. Looking forward to revisiting the game.

EDIT: Correction -- 2nd edition, not 1st. Still, I assume too many changes for my resources to be useful.

Changes Since 1st Printing?

After a long hiatus, I'm returning to the game. I currently have 1st Printing rulebooks, and I took note of the changes on the Wikipedia page. My question: If I wish to update my ruleset without repurchasing all the books, is there a supplement that provides only the changed content?

Open Request: Katamari Costume Pic?

A while back, someone posted a picture of a father and baby dressed in Katamari Damaci costumes for a contest. For the life of me, I can't find the original thread. If anyone can lead me once again to the pic, could you please?

You understand me correctly.

In my group, delayed actions actually do happen quite often.

Well, no sense not allowing it just because it's not specifically mentioned in the PHB. Thanks for the quick response.

I'm not a big fan of house rules, but I wonder if dropping withholding will disappoint my 3e-based players. I'm going to have to think hard about this one. I'd like to stop allowing it, but I've already set a precedent.

Withheld Actions

So I'm CKing my first session and a couple of players use withheld actions during combat. Being a 3.5 veteran, I allow it. Then I realize that I haven't seen anything in the PHB about withholding. Did I miss it somewhere, or is it not allowed in the official rules?

<t>As I have said before, I actually like 4e's rules system. It's just that I had a moment of bewilderment after looking through the PHB, when I had to ask myself, "Wait... did I really just read a D&D rulebook?" And that moment is what inspired the letter.<br/> <br/> And I totally agree with th...

Loved OD&D

Loved 1e

Never Played 2e

Loved 3.0, was suspicious of 3.5, then figured wtf. Still okay with it, but Pathfinder seems better.

Like 4.0

I wonder why so many people seem to be anti-3e?

Perhaps I should have left that point out of the discussion. Even if they didn't rename 4e, which might be a stupid idea now that it's out there anyway, but took all the other steps listed, the effect would be just as desirable.

Yeah, folks have been saying that since 3e released.

My central point is not which edition of D&D should be thought of as "correct" anyway. It was a suggestion as to how WOTC could retain the loyalty of players of all editions.

<t>I disagree on 3e being close to 4e. For me, 3e was a reduction of needlessly separate game mechanics to an elegant d20 system of skill checks. Concepts that originated in 1e, like BAB, Saving Throws, a Vancian magic system, etc. remained. I could have done without Feats. 4e, with its Powers and P...
