Re: RPG Benefits for Chidren; Articles?

I don't have any articles or papers at hand right this moment, but I'm kinda sure they are out there. RPGs have sparked some research work over the years. But then, there's also other kinds of RPG games out there as well by now, fit for the younger ages, with material that's easier on the mind of pa...

Re: Musings on house rules

During development, it was considered to use to hit rolls as a modified version of the SIEGE system but was discarded for a variety of reasons. One being that, assuming Dexterity is super important (which seems logical), thieves would quickly become the best fighters -- they have Dexterity Prime by...

Re: Musings on house rules

True, and thanks for the reminder. I was more hoping for your opinions on whether this idea would be was or hard to implement, and if there are mechanical consequences I might have overlooked that could turn into train wreckers. :D The collected practical game experience of the board, so to speak. A...

Musings on house rules

Reading the CKG's chapter on The SIEGE engine' rationale got me crunching some numbers, and thinking. I might get some brand new players for C&C with some luck, and I don't know if we'll pls long enough (or regular enough) for the characters to reach heroic levels. Since I want them to feel like...

Re: Class XP construction/deconstruction rules - still comin

Yeah, I know what you mean. Apart from assuming an inherent bias towards the superiority of wizard magic vs. illusion is magic, I'd not know how to interpret the identical XP tables of both classes. Hard to deconstruct personal for or against something. :)

Re: Class XP construction/deconstruction rules - still comin

Heh, yeah, I remember ( :o ) 8 years back, when I puzzled together my Necromancer, I was stoked to get that stuff from the back-then announced Castle Keeper's Guide (where I still expected it when I finally snagged it up  ). And though the whole "New Races" part is great, it's not wha...

Re: Class XP construction/deconstruction rules - still comin

For the racial classes, why don't you just use the XP table from BECMI? Basically because I'm a tinkerer (when the mood hits me), and I doubt that my idea of an "Elf" racial class for C&C would shake out like the old class, XP-wise. I'm planning to offer only Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, a...

Class XP construction/deconstruction rules - still coming?

Hi folks, it's been a while since I posted here (long enough to have to reactivate my password, actually  ), but here's the best place to post my question after all. :) A few years ago, serleran had a class deconstruction document online, containing his breakdown of the XP costs for the separ...

<t>That answer probably occured to you already, but I'd look up the D20 equivalent of the spell in question (if it exists, of course) and convert that, making any changes back to 1E/2E stats (duration, range) to my preference during that conversion. I've found a LOT of the older spells made their wa...
