My calculation gives an 18-headed hydracat an XP value of 6300 before HP awards which are variable.
I don't consider that undervalued.
If you do, that's fine. I'll keep my method because it is precisely how it was intended.

Re: Returning Home
If Steve is adamant about not fixing textual 'errata' in the form of grammar (where it does not detract from rules intent) and spelling, then yes, it would seem quixotic at worst.
Sometimes, and this is not necessarily true on this case, the errors are the style.

Oh, and because I found it finally, here is the original image I found online that inspired the write up. I am not the artist, as said. I don't know who is.

Re: New Monster -- Hydracat
I let my wife read this and she told me I had a major oversight. Please add the following the Pounce description. Curiously, a hydracat may also pounce and attack with a single claw, this requiring movement of 20 feet but allows the hydracat to return to a position behind its origin, so that it coul...

Re: Mounted Combat
Making it count for horses only generally destroys any chance of a smaller-than-man knight considering they won't be on a "horse." I suppose they could, but it'll be more a "pony." The Castle Keeper can make it anyway they want, for sure, and the intent is probably to enforce hum...

Re: Returning Home
I am slowly trying to get back into writing something, anything, for gaming and C&C is simple enough to let me do that. I never really completely left... just slowed waaaaaaaay down.

Re: RPG Tournament
Are you looking for team, individual, or both for scoring options? As individuals, if you have a HP rule, it must be balanced such that those classes with less HP are not immediately penalized, and it must be set in such a way that healing is not paused until scoring occurs. That's, perhaps, not an ...

Re: Empyrea for C&C
If it appears and I can get it, I will. Mostly because I liked what I have seen of it, from the AOL days and the "prospectus" I got a few years back.
C&C has had its own "fun" with that previously and yet here are people still enjoying it.

I think, for the most part, Rune Lore needs a bit more examples. Maybe some kind of matrix for "create your own spell."

Re: level of C&C output
I could produce a lot of material if I felt it would be accepted. Or really worth the time it takes. I do not. Therefore, I do not. In my experience with the Trolls, they do give deadlines. They are not always set in stone. Having a limited studio of artists also restricts output speed. I don't know...

Re: Favorite Halloween (or Seasonal) Adventure?
Realistically, we don't play near holidays as the players take that time to do whatever else.. but seasonal is another story. I have played a little adventure crafted around the movie Cabin in the Woods and several other horror movies have been inspiration for the 'Autumn game' with perennials such ...

I finished watching season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead and that made me want to play the Army of Darkness RPG so I picked it up again. I don't think I'll play it but there's enough there to get my tongue wanting another lick.

Re: Anyone doing historical settings?
I'm going to start a caveman game set in a near-total ice age. Spells and such will be around, but they're not like usual casting... not intended for combat, anyway, without magic items. I think I'll allow sasquatch/yeti PCs.

Re: EXP adjustment for when not using EXP for treasure ???
I have long ago given up the idea of experience points and have moved to a more user-defined goal-driven method so I can work with the player to find out what they're thinking could be fun to do, and what they'd like to see. It gives them a part of the plan in running the game. It also allows me to ...

Racial profiling!
Actually, I'm pretty sure the PHB has or had racial adjustments to certain class abilities, to encourage use of archetypes.

When I used a similar idea, what was invoked for the aid mattered just as much as frequency. For example, if you were asking for protection and called upon a minor entity within the faith, it was more likely to be granted than calling the Big Dude Himself. You'd get a +1 or some equivalent (depends ...

It is also important to note that, for some classes, races, items or spells, there may be adjustment to the save. For example, a dwarf, as I recall, gets a bonus against all arcane spell saves even if he's using Strength and not Intelligence, or whatever.

The Nine Worlds Saga series seems like it might be a good fit for it, the German and Norse Codices as well. This is the series by Brian that I was referring to. OK. I didn't check authorship and cannot say I have even read them. I assumed, based on the titles, they might be useful for the Codex stu...
