<t>I've gone back to rolling for HP at first level instead of giving max. I've also, however, switched to awarding max gold at first level. Even if you have max HP, if you get clobbered with a critical hit (if you use crit rules), it doesn't make any difference if you have 10 HP or 2 HP...either way...

You need another category...don't really care about labels. The only label I care about at this point is that it's not 4e or D20. Beyond that, I really don't care.

Looks good.

I prefer 4d6 7x, drop low roll on each set and drop lowest total. I want my characters to be a bit more "heroic" instead of the generally average rolls I get from 3d6.

Perhaps the race was one created by one of the plethora of gods of magic, but this kind of a system to me goes against the grain of your normal, run-of-the-mill spellcasters who have to prepare their spells. It seems like every time an edition change has occurred, it has accompanied a shift in the paradigm in which the game is envisioned. 2/e was basically an attempt to break away from the Gygaxian model. the d20 ...

Boxed text is nice for getting the author's intent for the room/encounter. Once you see how somebody else has envisioned something, it's easier to tailor it to your liking.

I like them. You need to be creative to make one effective, as has been stated by others, but if you can do that, they're fun. Also, it makes the CK's job more fun planning encounters, especially if he/she knows that the illusionist is being creatively played.

Dvorak is good stuff too. I avoid Dvorak 9 just because of the familiarity factor. Glinka, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov and, of course, Rachmaninov all have some great stuff for gaming. The de Meij LotR Symphony is good too.

The Ride is great stuff, but I try keeping things a bit more obscure to avoid the possibility of forgetting why we're at the table. Bruckner 3 is a great one I forgot about. If you find yourself entering a grand temple, Gregorian chant or some Bach would be good to have on hand.
