<t>I suspect the best way to balance a mixed-level party of such extremes is to vary the kinds of challenges they face. Ideally, there should be areas where your low level PC is the only one who can succeed (Class Abilities). i.e. the low level ranger tracks the baddies to their lair. The low level ...

C&C one-shot: What Level?

<t>So I've been writing up an adventure for my group, it's pretty much intended as a one-shot, though it could be dropped into an ongoing game. It's definitely for higher than 1st level PCs, though. I'm trying to decide what a good average level would be. They'd need a goodly mix of classes too (not...

Scrolls and long casting times

According to the PHB, the casting time, etc. of a spell is no different when reading it from a scroll than casting it normally. But how would you handle that in the case of a spell that takes several minutes, or hours, or even all day to cast?

Check out Sea Machine from Classic D&D. Or Stormwrack from WOTC.

Sea Machine is mostly for sea battles, but has some decent stuff for ship stats.

Stormwrack includes underwater rules as well as ships. It should convert pretty easily.

Though DCC1 was fairly tweaked (mixed with part of the Dragonfiend Pact) and B10 fizzled before finishing. Still, we got through the Siege, which is one of the coolest parts.
