Re: OT-mass conversion of .wpd to .doc

NeoOffice is just OpenOffice with some OSX features. You should try OpenOffice to see if it can open the files. If so use BatchConv http://oooconv.free.fr/batchconv/batchconv_en.html Or try Abiword to see if that will open them it also has a command-line converter which I know I have used to change ...

Nobleknight still has a whitebox for 20 bucks if anyone needs it. I finally bought one last week because of the "collectus completus" problem some of us have.

I feel the same way as Fin. They look really nice, and I was tempted but something seems just slightly off. I own several of these as normal modules and several more as PDF. These days I find that I like having both softcover and PDF so I can print out parts that I want to change or scribble on as t...

Good thing Trolls Regenerate

Just got and read Troll Tusk #30. As Steve's post script posed what's up with all the failing organs in the Trolls lineup. Seriously though best wishes for speedy recoveries to Jim, Casey and Kim. Thanks to all for making 2011 a great gaming year!

Re: Wizard Access to Illusionist Spells

Hmm tricky, I would not just give access in the sense of, you find a scroll or your read a spellbook. But if the Wizard researches a spell like color spray I would allow it. But you should make it slightly different and maybe bump it to second level. Something like that.... Now totally on the other ...

One of the players blames me for the deaths because in his words "maybe give us a warning next time". How do the other players feel? It sounds pretty awesome to me, the Wizard who broke his staff went out in a blaze of glory killing everyone else, he sounds like a dangerously unstable man...

i never run it but I bought the PDF... So let's see Copy Paste: GL 22: This is the shaft mentioned in UL 20 of the UPPER LEVEL. It goes all the way down to the pool room (LL 1) in the LOWER LEVEL. This is a steeply-curved, corkscrew ramp. So UL20 says UL 20: This double hexagonal room contains a chu...

Re: Experience points for monsters?

This is where it starts to get tricky. Generally if the Book lists a xp total use it. For Harpy is says XP: 40+3, so your example should be 24x3+40=112. As to why it's probably base=20, Song = 10, Fly=10 (or darkvision=10) for the 40. However the examples are not real clear so you have to decide as ...

Should be 5 base + 1 exp per hp.. So that goblin is 11. (At least this how I read the chart in the M&T)

Obviously only the trolls can say for sure but my guess is the multiple attacks [claw, claw, bite, wing buffet, tail slap] at 20-30HD [that's +20-30 to hit] made grown men cry.

I don't allow spontaneous casting but I do allow spell swapping....LIke so Reading a spell from your spellbook, or praying for a different spell. Characters may swap spells if they successfully make an ability check [INT/WIS] with CL being the level of the spell. Failure means they lose the spell fo...

This will probably sound crazy but I did away with Init. No one seems to complain and it makes things even faster. Since combat rounds are pretty short I have everything occur [basically] simultaneous. I sort of decide what I'm going to do quickly then I have the PC make all there actions then I exe...

Re: an alternate way to play the game?

Should difficulty be based on hit dice? Is a hill giant really harder to sneak by than a hound dog? Easy, average, and hard should be absolutes, not relative to level. A 10th level character should be better at hard tasks than a 1st level character, and a hard should be an absolute quality, not a r...
