I could most certainly do the "on the fly" modification sort of thing... But I like to have things written down. That is why I am going through and systematically doing so - with some bonus material thrown in because I feel like it.

<t>Yeah I know! I also seem to recall from my brief scanning of said material that the only folks who had named skills were rogues...? I played AD&D as a kid and I questioned that edition at every turn. I guess I am just very confident in the idea of what a game should be. Perhaps my downfall?</t>

Here you go teacher, my essay on the RPG physics. Don't forget D&D 4E. I'm using many of the combined skills I saw in 4E in my house rules. This is because they are simpler and more generalized. Overall you are definitely correct. The changes/additions I am making are an effort to take (what I f...

Haha, nah... I just like to poke fun at the old games and their antiquated ideas.
I see your point... I'm so use to the unified Exp progression tables that seeing 4k for 1st level makes me go, . A rogue would be about 1/3 the way to the 4th Level by then.

Indeed. The chance for critting a PC into the ground is pretty high weighing the probabilities against the number of rolls required to get through a campaign. Not too mention that most of the time monsters have home turf advantage and mystery on their side. Lord Dynel wrote: True. I think I know whe...

Indeed. Monsters can't follow all of the rules... they wouldn't be mysterious and dangerous if they did. I think a lot of the difference between the monsters in this game and that of D&D 3.5E are going to surprise my players quite a bit. gideon_thorne wrote: The # of HD is the attribute modifier...

I think perhaps having both the BTH of a Fighter and the Spell Progression of a wizard is a little juiced... Perhaps one should be compromised and thus the Exp requirements lowered?

True but isn't a giant also well versed in the applications of Strength? Given that he too has it as a Prime... I understand perfectly why modifiers aren't given to Monsters in this game, its all in the name of classic appeal and rules lite. That's cool. But at the same time, I intend to add little ...

A Fighter of the same Level will be considered stronger than the giant if he has at least a +1 modifier. To me this is unacceptable. And yeah, I know a giant should never lose an arm wrestling match to a Fighter unless that fighter is a true brute and magically enhanced and I can make that judgment ...

I assume so. They do a lot of damage! I feel like old D&D must have been pretty brutal if it were anything like this.
