Someone should put out a "OSRIC to C&C" conversion doc. Avoids the whole legal issue while satisfying the goal of the poster.
Having said that, I agree that conversion is easy and I do it on the fly.

Re: The Anubis Murders by Gary Gygax
I enjoyed it. Gary wrote a couple of historical mysteries with the same primary characters and I enjoyed them a lot. Actually, I'm not sure if I ever got around to reading Infernal Sorceress, but I have a copy on my shelf. :D 1 The Anubis Murders (1992) 2 The Samarkand Solution (1993) 3 Death in Del...

And if you haven't read Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser fiction recently, dust it off and read it again for inspiration. Thief-based campaigns can be a blast!

Re: C&CS and KotC Rolls
By the by, for those of you who were in the Society way back when, those rolls are MIA, so we are doing new ones. If you want included, you'll have to fill out a new sign up sheet. Sorry for the hassle on this guys, but it is what it is. Hey, Rigon. I finally got around to signing up once again (th...

Re: C&CS and KotC Rolls
I am curious as to why the rolls seem to get lost on occasion. I joined up early on and then submitted pertty much the same information a few years after that. As a pre-release C&C playtester (name in the PHB and everything) I feel that somehow those names ought to be kept in a more secure locat...

Re: I purchased D&D 5th Ed
Do you think 5E is easier to run than 3E just based upon the three source books (DMG, PHB, & MM)? 5E is way easier to learn and to run than 3E, in my opinion, and if you are working from a module you really don't need the 5E DMG that much. (Same as with C&C's CKG, I was able to play for mon...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion
There's an optional level-up system in the DMG that I use: First session takes you to level 2 and second session takes you to level 3. From this point it takes two sessions to go up one level. That's 36 sessions to level 20 if my math-fu is correct (which is very unlikely). It works fine in my grou...

Re: Race as Class
I don't ever remember race as class as an option in AD&D. I believe you will find Race as Class was an OD&D thing and it is one of the changes AD&D made to the game. AD&D did have race class restrictions though. :D Careful with your terminology here because the evolution of D&D ...

Re: Race as Class
My understanding is that their societies might have them, but they weren't supposed to be PC options. I'm pretty sure I have read references to NPC dwarven clerics, for example.Rhuvein wrote:My general thought is, why wouldn't gnome, halfling or dwarven societies have clerics or magic users?

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion
The game seems designed around 1-20th level in one adventure path or around 20 sessions. WAY too fast and although it would have a easy fix, doesn't have that option. That's an interesting observation, but doesn't match my experience with 5E. I'm playing a game of 5E in my local game store and DM'i...

Re: Savage Worlds has done Lahkmar!
Even DCC has an adventure in this setting. Box set forthcoming. I've been keeping an eye on that, just this SW version came completely out of left field for me, so I wasn't even aware of it being done until the pre order went up yesterday. I'm the same way. I hadn't heard anything about the SW vers...

Re: Firefly... what!?
The Firefly RPG, much like the previous Serenity RPG, does use the CORTEX system. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, since my players aren't keen on learning new rules. And as was noted earlier, the best way to run a game like this is to have a totally different crew rather than pla...

I remember seeing copies at the game store back in the day, and they looked really cool, but at the time I wasn't interested in experimenting with new or different rules systems. I also recall seeing several novels. They looked good, but since I didn't buy the rules I didn't bother with the novels e...

Re: The 'which fantasy setting do you game in the most' poll
I've done so many campaigns in various settings over the years (Greyhawk, Blackmoor, Mystara, Haunted Highlands, Ravenloft, Middle-earth, the list goes on) but most of my campaigns are home-brew with parts borrowed from various settings. For example, most of my campaigns have a "Free City of Gr...

Re: My more detailed 5e thoughts
One thing that jumps out as very oppositional to my like is a paragraph "Exceptions to the rules are often minor.... If a specific rule contradicts a general rule, the specific rule wins." There's a reason for that, and actually this spirit has been with us since 1974. The reason is that ...

I've been a member at the WotC forum for years and I've gotten to the point where I really dislike the WotC boards nowadays. (1) Their most recent software is really a pain to naviagate. I'm a moderator, but this issue appears to be above my pay grade.
I can find her profile but can't get inside to look at the specifics like I can on some other boards. Everything I can see looks good. I presume that we need an "admin" and not just a "moderator" to fix this.

REHowardfanatic, I'm not going to flame you but I'm not going to agree 100% with you either. You make some really great points. A few semi-random thoughts: (1) I agree that the new rulebooks (3E and newer in particular) have way too much verbiage. How can the 5E Basic PDF be over a hundred pages? I ...

I have a pile of core Pathfinder books because I like the writing and presentation. I have decided, however, that I don't really like the game system that much and plan on getting rid of them. And their starter set is one of the best I've seen anywhere. Lots of color artwork, well written, integrate...

Re: Kickstarter vs. Indiegogo... moriarty777's question to m
The thing for me is that most major companies don't use kickstarter, so you have to assume that the group you are funding is most likely a small operation. Many small operations don't typically have a high track record for getting products of any kind out on time, and kickstarter-funded small operat...

Agreed. My notes and such aren't designed for public consumption, and indeed would be embarrasing if I had to share them. They're just designed for me to have a skeleton around which I can "wing it" as I run my game, and aren't fleshed out enough for another GM to use. That's one thing I f...

The TSR-6601 Administrator's Screen reflects the 2nd edition rules. That's interesting. Heck, I didn't...

Re: Excited. Scared. Help. (Long. For the helpful and bored.
Sounds like you have a good handle on things. Run C&C the way you would run B/X and you'll be just fine. Details like spell information can be either brief or expanded, depending upon taste, and it won't really break the rules set any more than it might break B/X or AD&D. Most of the time I ...
