Re: Do you run C&C with the flavor of a certain D&D edition?
I think that for me C&C is more of an alternate to AD&D or 2E. When I want something really loose and freewheeling I go to OD&D, but when I want something with a little structure (but not too much) I grab my C&C.

Maybe you can post the changes to the HtH rules when it arrives, in case any of us get the urge to run a TS game again.

Re: Top Secret 2nd Edition
Like most of the others who have posted, I logged in many hours with TS but never the second printing. (Or TS/SI for that matter.) A great game with some pretty decent support through Dragon magazine. Maybe the hand-to-hand rules hit Dragon before they appeared in a second printing? Might be worth a...

Re: Excited. Scared. Help. (Long. For the helpful and bored.
Part of me wonders if I can/should run the game with the spell summeries as the spell descriptions. Anyone here play it that loose? I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I have played OD&D and C&C before where the spell names are the spell descriptions. In other words, when someone cas...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion
Relaxo -- a couple of things (which you may have answered for yourself already) I agree that the +1 to all stats is pretty sweet, but otherwise I find that everyone wants to play non-humans. In my six player 5E group, only one is human. Starter set has "core four" classes (fighter, cleric,...

Re: Stuff I'd Buy if TLG Made It
I'd love to buy a good-quality C&C t-shirt with a giganto logo on it. (There are several to pick from. I really like the early C&C logos, but the newer blocky rectangular one is kind of neat, too.) Doesn't have to come with a lot of fancy artwork, just the logo.

Re: I am now to the point . . .
I'll confess that a lot of my AD&D books (both 1E and 2E) basically sit on the shelf and collect dust, although my OD&D white box gets heavy use still. Kind of sad to think about that.

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion
I've been a playtester for 5E for more than a year now, and have run several games as a DM. Overall, I like it. It's better than 3E and better than 4E. It's similar to 13th Age. It is more detailed than C&C, but fills a similar niche of "what 3E ought to have been." As to Advantage/Dis...

Re: The Person Who Runs C&C Games
I normally default to the term DM just out of 25 years of habit. I have been getting better at saying GM lately. I rarely have used CK, it just doesn't roll of the tongue as easily for me. This is me as well. I know that it ought[/b] to be CK, but somehow it seems to end up DM more often than not. ...

Re: Old Threads
I miss the theory threads. I tried to find some of them, especially the ones where we argued about 12/18 vs Target 20, and the thread containing the "ah ha!" moment where everyone understood how Primes would really affect the game. I couldn't find them. This saddens me. If I only thought ...

Re: Why C&C Should Be Your Go-To D&D
I agree that C&C is what "AD&D 3" should have been instead of the 3E that we got. I have a hard time with go-to games because often it comes down to my mood. OD&D has been my go-to game for decades because it's so easy to tweak and house-rule. While C&C is certainly in my &...

Re: Castle Zagyg- what is out there?
CZ is one of those things I can't decide what to do with. I really wanted to see Gary's original dungeon, warts and all. Had CZ been fully explored as the product line projected it might have been awesome as well, but as it ended up ... I just don't know what to think of it. I'm not sure if I have a...

Re: Black Box?
I need more digest-sized C&C box sets. As much as I love the full-sized C&C stuff, the white box set is great for taking on trips where there's a chance of playing a game of Castles & Crusades, but not guaranteed enough to warrant hauling the full-size hardcovers around. I'm the opposit...

Re: Free Rpg day 2014
I was visiting my daughter in college and missed Free RPG Day at my local store, but I dropped by the one near where she lives. They had a neat deal -- with purchase you get to pick one item from table one and one item from table two. Table one was this year's stuff and table two was anything left o...

Re: I might just leave RPGs behind, or my tale of burnout
One thing that helped my burnout was getting to PLAY in a game. I'm my group's GM 99% of the time so I always have to be creative and my group just shows up unprepared, which I found pretty exhausting. I went to my local game store and found a game which meets once per week for a couple of hours and...

Any C&C pregens out there?
I was curious if anyone knows of any webpages which host some C&C pregen characters all statted-out and ready to play. When I run a campaign I like to copy-paste the class abilities onto the character sheet, but if I want a one-shot game it's a lot of work for not much return. I'm also thinking ...

Re: Merging C&C and GUMSHOE
I haven't tried it, but certainly since Pathfinder linked to Gumshoe pretty well I'd think that C&C wouldn't be any harder. One could probably start with Lorefinder and swap out Pathfinder elements for C&C.

Re: 13th Age
Treebore, your ideas of scaling the die are good ones. We've found that most combats don't seem to last too many rounds where the extra plusses are too unbalancing, and the die helps to speed along the end of battle because things kind of accelerate and feel faster. I wish I had collected data on ho...

Re: Well, it happened again, gents
At my table, he who runs the game picks the rules. As others have noted, there are lots of players and not so many game masters. You are a valuable resource and your players need to understand that it's not worth it for you to run a game you don't like. I always take suggestions from my players, but...

Finarvyn mentioned in a post he uses the backgrounds. I generally respect his opinion as an old schooler so I suspect I don't have the full picture. Re: What other games do you borrow from besides D&D/Pathfind
I like this. But is it worth enough to spend money on 13th Age? Hmmm . . . Instead of using skills I like to use the "background" rules from 13th Age. Basically you get 8 points to put into backgrounds. Each background is a lot like a skill package, only you don't have to determine before...

Last week, I think Joe said the pdf would be sent out as soon as everybody's surveys were sent back in. I think the pdf is just the original Wardco version.
