Re: Which Game do you DISLIKE the most.....
Well for me, 2.5 & 3e D&D has to go pretty high on the list. Plenty of games I don't like I can just shrug and walk away but at a certain point a game I had previously loved changed in ways that meant we grew apart. Sad. This may seem strange for a guy who has Palladiums TMNT & Other Str...

Re: Getting back into C&C
So even though the core rules have not changed, enough things have been changed to make the 4th printing definitely the best version to have. no arguments from me here. I'm happy with the 4e printing save for the Illusionist. But you can't please everyone, right? Yep, thankfully the illusionist is ...

Re: What Encumbrance system do you use?
I use this one. Similar to BFRPG Simple Encumbrance System PC can carry as many items as he has strength points without penalty. System is based off # of items with a very simplified EV. Add 2 items for a strength prime. Add 2 item for a constitution prime. Eg. 10 strength + con prime = 12 items wit...

Re: 25 page sample of the CKG
Wow, I don't think anyone will take a review seriously where they reviewer dismisses sections he hasn't even read as "can't imagine it being useful", as if his imagination is a limiting factor for the book. Or says he was looking forward to one section "but it's only 13 pages". :...

Re: 2e bard
I always selected spells that the Bard would use. Like for a Jester, I'd pick spells such as Grease or Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter. Two of my favourite spells also! Grease is so damn useful! You can thwart charges, lay it as a trap, use it offensively to take down opponents or defensive...

Re: Do I have the wrong book?
what is the last digit in the number on the spine.
I believe all the 4th printing books end with the number "4", and the 3rd print with the digit "3".

Re: 2e bard
It made sense to me. For C&C, it makes even more sense to allow other classes to cast spells. Seeing as wizards can attempt to pick pocket and such with a siege check. Why not the other way around? Heck, if an Illusionist can walk around pretending to be a cleric, the least the Bard can do is m...

Re: 2e bard
I never liked how bards could cast spells in 2e, but that is neither here nor there.
It looks workable, but TBH I probably would have pointed the player at the bard class Bard, the class and a half rules and then whichever flavour spellcaster he wanted.

Re: Hobgoblins, Scourge of the East
nice writeup. a Carolingian campaign, eh Zarathustra? Sounds fun. Who gets to be Count Roland? LOL I'm thinking roughly 790 AD - I want King Offa still in power in Britain and the continental Saxons still sticking to their guns (swords?) so Roland would be dead. But I WAS thinking of using some of ...

Very nice.
I plan on making the Avars in my Carolingian campaign a hobgoblin culture as a little surprise should my pc's ever head east, this has some nice tidbits I might steal to flesh them out.

Re: So what other RPG's do you view favorably?
TMNT & Other Strangeness- Used to read the comics and was blown away when I found the rpg and saw a tv cartoon version. I don't really like Palladium systems in general but TMNT is just about scaled down enough to keep in hand. I had/hope to still have alot of fun playing this game. Gunslingers...

Re: My Celtic Pantheon
The problems with incorporating "Celtic" religion into a game are manifold. You can encounter real difficulties trying to pigeonhole the Irish Tuatha De Danann. Yeah I couldn't recreate the entire world, as was, in minutiae, into my setting so where possible I went with gross oversimplifi...

Cool, glad someone got some use out of it too. I have made the mistake in the past of foisting page after page of background info. on players and I do believe it is just that, a mistake. Even though I still think Westley would be a Fighter I agree with the Charisma Prime and I don't fault your reasoning behind choosing Bard. Actually, I feel torn between agreeing and disagreeing with you! xD In the end though, I do think that a Prime in Charisma (with the same scores you gave thoug...

My Celtic Pantheon
Well this is my take on the Celtic pantheon for use in my campaign. I included a few tidbits on Celtic beliefs/life simply because my players didn't have as good a grasp on the Celts as they did other cultures in play. (there is another background file for them with more but that is beside the point...

@ CSperkins- glad you like it, you seem to have caught my flavour idea dead on. @ Andred. Yes, of course the druids were Celtic shamans but I found the druid a better fitting archetype spellwise and weaponwise for my Norse priests. Perhaps I should call them something other than "druids" t...

Re: Fictional characters' C&C stats
After my years of playing superhero games, I'm leerly of stating out ficiton characters. Most of the time, people tend to stat the hero at the apex of their career, which makes them cameo NPCs of the rarest sort in a game. And naturaly, most fans overstat their heroes. I perfer to stat heroes at mo...

Re: Fictional characters' C&C stats
ooh ooh I'll play. One little test I did before I chose C&C as a system was to see if I could recreate the three heroes from the Princess Bride; Westly (dread pirate roberts), Inigo Montoya and Fezzik. Westley would be a Bard. I can see this being contentious but the clincher for me is the scene...

My Take on the Teutonic Pantheon (for my campaign)
I never seem to be happy with other takes on "real world" pantheons so here is one I did for my campaign. It doesn't pretend to be better or more true than others, it simply how I like it. The campaign is set in an alternate earth circa 800AD (790 to be more exact). It is quite brief, just...
