Re: What current setting do you use for your C&C games?

I have been checking out Primeval Thule. It is set in Greenland 300 years after Atlantis sank. Published by Sasquatch Game Studio. The same guys who wrote/published "Princes of the Apocalypse" for WotC 5e. Really Conan-esque!

GenCon vs. Other Cons, specifically Game Hole Con

Ok, so GenCon 2016 was a great success, but was it worth it? It starts in January when you get on the flawed housing portal and hope for the 1 hour wait time to get a room and the dreaded 3 hour wait time pops up on your PC screen. You know you are getting a room 16 miles out. All the stress and dre...

Re: What non-C&C purchased adventures have you run using C&C

All good stuff so far! I am a JG and Necromancer Games guy myself. So try this: I wrote two adventures for 5e (Forgotten Realms) an adaptation from last year's GenCon off grid games, called The Tower of Bondage. There are two parts up on the Dungeon Masters Guild site for sale. Just $2 bucks each. T...

Re: 5th Edition

Hey gang, I have given 5e a try and I like it. They got rid of all of the 3.5 bloat. They have a great place for people to share adventures and house rules with other players. Go to Dungeon Masters Guild, search for The Tower of Bondage, and you will find the adventure that I originally wrote for C&...

Re: Classic Monsters up for second printing..

Well, as much as I like the idea of getting all the books in the nice leather cover, I have to agree with Snoring Rock, I would like to see the rest of my stuff before deciding to buy more. Add to this the fact that all the recent Troll KS's really sapped my entertainment budget and I am not in a p...

Re: Classic Monsters up for second printing..

Strange you guys didn't find a message on KS considering those messages are supposed to go to everyone signed up for the KS. Which is done by the KS system, not the Trolls, other than writing the messages and saying to send them, of course, but the actual distributions system for the e-mails is the...

Re: Classic Monsters up for second printing..

No messages. I went to Kickstarter.....nothing. I tried RPG Now and I found the updated file. Ok, so I do have one of the PDF's. What happened to the new weapons books and the other adventures? I think I read somewhere that it was coming but that other "projects" were taking up time. I think one KS ...

Re: Classic Monsters up for second printing..

The idea here was should we preemptively begin reviewing the book for issues so that we can help the official reviewers sooner than later? Under the ground rules noted. Steve and I actually talked about this when I ordered my T-shirts and Mug a week or two ago. In general, he wants to give us the P...

Re: Classic Monsters up for second printing..

I'll hold off. They are getting in over their heads. Still waiting for the gross errata issues with the last CKG to be addressed. At least it isn't as horrible as some other products they released. The PDF they released a couple of months ago by Jim Ward, the one with a bunch of magic spells, I am ...

Re: Siege Engine & Use of Prime, Level, & Modifier

I see it like that as well, with a slightly simpler approach. 1. You have clear class abilities like spells, turning undead, divine aura... 2. Then you have class skills like scale, climb, pick pockets, saving throws, and listen which are: d20 roll + modifier + level + (prime). I do not let PCs outs...

Re: Siege Engine & Use of Prime, Level, & Modifier

What about the class abilities? Pick Pockets Scale Climb Climb. That is a class ability. Can my fighter add his level? I know my rogue can. I agree that all siege checks should add level but now you have climb. Climb is a class ability for rogues and scale is a class ability for rangers. Can my bard...

Re: Siege Engine & Use of Prime, Level, & Modifier

So there was this alligator talking to a lion. The alligators says "why don't people just like me for who and what I am?" The Lion replied, "it would be easier for them to accept you if you just stop eating them". That said, I have a question. Is lifting a mast off a fellow PC a class ability? No. I...

Siege Engine & Use of Prime, Level, & Modifier

Ok, so maybe I have not been applying this the way I should. For aclass abilities I allow prime (+6) added to level and add in the ability modifier plus d20 roll. For things that are not class abilities like strength checks to lift a portcullis, I have allowed prime (+6) plus ability modifier, but d...

Re: C&C @ GENCON ~ A Crusader's Guide to OFF-GRID Games

Yes, the more games, the better. I am running two games this year. I wrote the adventure and call it "Tower of Bondage". Fun place. The first evening will be at the JW Marriott room 202 table #4 at 7pm on Thursday. The game is sold out. However, many times, people do not make it and a spot is open. ...

Re: Ranged Weapons That Miss Their Target...

I use the rule. They can protest all they want. Furthermore, if an arrow strike the target, it is destroyed. I am a bow hunter and I know what arrows do when they hit meat, bone and sinew. If they miss, there is a 50/50 chance they can be retrieved. If it is a magic arrow it is always retrieved. If ...

CKG Release Date--Delivery

GenCon is just around the corner and my players are desiring to get their hands on copies of the CKG. Do we have a date for delivery yet? Will they be available at GenCon? On that subject, I know that it was reported that the printing of school yearbooks were in the way at the printers, and thus slo...

Re: Favorite Critical Hit Systems?

You have to be careful not to make it too deadly...you may lose players. My suggestions are these; 1. Get some Game Mastery critical hit card decks from Paizo. Each critical hit wins a draw from the deck. They include double damage, triple damage, things like bleeding damage, loss of limbs or abilit...

Re: Ol' man Grognard 45: In The Bluff

I know Bluffside is big, like 90,000 for population. But what do you think of plugging it in as Antil in the Wilderlands? Antil is small, but if admantine were discovered, that could change things.

Re: Is C&C a d20 game?

D20 is the game system rules (3.x to be specific). WotC completely re-thought the rules and carefully codified what they could salvage from earlier rules and reworked the rest. They based most resolution on d20 and hence the term "D20". D20 is also referred to as the D20 SRD (system rules document) ...

Re: Is C&C a d20 game?

I will not try to define D20 or argue why TLG publishes under the OGL. It just opens so nay cans of worms. I will say that TLG began as a 3rd party publisher of D20 material with the D20 logo on the front of ever publication. After some time, as the D20 movement matured, TLG looked to remove the thi...

Re: Newbie Question: How does C&C handle trying again?

Yep. Common sense is the best rule in C&C. If you think it makes sense, do it. If not, don't. Like Rigon says, if they can eventually do it, given time, then why roll for it? Just say it gets done in X amount of time and move ahead. 3E was seriously broken with their "Take 20" rule, which assured s...

This is kind of open for debate or your preference. Some of these are in the book, while others just make sense, while some are just my idea. To be declared: Dodge (in the book) Evade (CKG--I think) Hold Offensive Focus (combat maneuver) Parry (combat maneuver) Spell Casting (this can be abused wher...
