Re: To Grid or not to Grid, that is the question...

So, here is my table from the CK's point of view. It is a platform with a sheet of grid paper off of a roll. That is covered by a large piece of plaxiglass. I can use wet-erase or dry-erase markers on it. Looks like the giant is about to break throught the portcullis; the party better come up with a...

C&C Style Lich

So I am running Tegal Manor again at GenCon. Last year I used a 1e version Lich. I have reviewed the baddy in the M&T and I dont know about the party being able to survive that thing. It is the sheer terror of making the CL 18 saves vs. this thing. I get scared and I am the CK.....Mwahahahahaaaa...

Re: To Grid or not to Grid, that is the question...

We shoud take pictures of our game rooms/areas if we have them and share them here. I havew a corner of the basement (dungeon). It is nice having an area dedicated to my game.

Re: Mind Flayer

I never really played 2e. That was about the time I got married and kids started to happen and I was so busy with family, school, and work that I gave up gaming for a while. I missed that iteration of the game. But I do understand it works better on the conversion for C&C.

Re: Mind Flayer

Well the Mind Flayer of the 3.5 edition, is clearly better to use unless you have imported psionic from 1e. The carrion crawler from 1e is best. I guess for some things like on the fly conversion, 1e seems best, but for power level, 3.5e is closer. Sometimes 1e conversion loses some power. C&C c...

Re: GenCon CK's Needed

OK, so time is running out on event registration. Early registration closed yesterday. I went ahead and entered two events, one for Thursday and one for Saturday. If the room is reserved, I am hoping my games can be placed there. This is something that really needs to get done lie yesterday. I have ...

Not taken as snarky, I work with engineers; I manage them. O guess I am snarky too. Anyway, I did not realize threr were that many. But yeah, the Umberhulk is missing. But we have the Owlbear. That was an original D&D creation too wasnt it? You know what is strange, is that saome iterations conv...

Re: Mind Flayer

I prefer the spell like abilites versions. Psionics never stuck with my group and never seemed to fit right for me. I like the Mind Flayer though. So, why are the Mind Flayer and Beholder; IP? There are other TSR/WotC monsters that are used freely; so why not these two?

Mind Flayer

Ok, so has anyone converted a Mindflayer to C&C? What to do with psionics? I thought I may make them into "like" spells and make them at-will spell-like abilities. Any ideas?

Re: To Grid or not to Grid, that is the question...

I like the grid for the same reason. Sometimes a combat is better explained with a 3d picture. It keeps some questions that would slow things down, from even surfacing. And, I have amassed a huge collection of minis, which are in very nice and easy organized drawers next to the table that I can get ...

Re: C&C Rules Compendium

Well golly, I had no idea there was controversy... I have both and as I remember, they were not all that different. I was giving thought to using a few of the classes. I want to dress up my NPC selection for my Wilderlands campaign. Keeping it simple however, is the key. I have been fiddling with di...

Re: To Grid or not to Grid, that is the question...

I use a grid on a raised platform in the middle of two 6 foot tables. Three players on each side. and me at the head. I have a huge collection of minis as well as a few dungeon dressings I like to use. I agree that too many fiddly rules for the grid is unappealing. I am burnt on attacks of opportuni...

Re: GenCon CK's Needed

Ok, so what is the plan? I was going to run another Tegel Manor adventure or something similar. I will hold off posting the game until I know what the Troll Lords are arranging. It would be great to have the games in the same room (grid and non-grid). But I am sure that would have to be coordinated ...

C&C Rules Compendium

Does anyone use the C&C Rule Compendium? I like some of the classes I there and want to use them in my Wilderlands campaign, but I want to know if anyone has play tested them yet. Generally I will use them for NPC’s, but there may be one or two I would allow as player characters.

Re: Knight's Battlefield Dominance

All three together.

It is just like a rogue at a certain level can move silently and hide in shadows at the same time. I think. Could be back attack.

Anyway, it means that he can lead the charge, inspire his comrades in arms and intimidate his foes while striking down his enemies in battle.

Re: Gen Con

I am really sorry to hear that. I ran two games and both were fantastic. I had one of the clerics actually coming up with chants and verses for turning undead. I sold 2 PHB's and a set of books (PHB/CKG/M&T). We need games on the grid to get the name out there. We need the room for demos and off...

Re: Weapon Bonuses inconsistent

Ok, the Hook Sword has a bonus to "overbear". I see no overbear mechanics in the game. This is the ONLY weapon with such an ability. I will ignore it, but this is what I am talking about. I assume overbear means to knock prone. I could not find it in Pathfinder but I remember reading it so...
