Wow, humans, halflings, etc. used to be called demi-humans in old-school D&D so the Ranger's humanoid list did not include them. Interesting question. I wouldn't think so though.

Yes I see your point. Toughness does play a part though conditioning of the body like martial artists do.

Personally, I've been a fan of the Wound/Vitality system.

Minimum ability scores for classes?

One thing 3e did away with was minimum ability scores for classes. I'm curious if anyone has reintroduced them into their C&C games.

I'd like to look into such a system as well.

But, in the mean time, I just treat character's as heros starting at 7th level and their reputations grow from there.
