Re: D&D Movie

Bummer that Courtney Solomon is still involved. But maybe they’ll get things right this time. I’d love it if they somehow got The Gamers crew involved with it, even as just part of the supporting cast. I am not optimistic. The old "Fool Me Twice" bit... Besides, a fellow gamer [with whom ...

Re: D&D Movie

Just in time. The movie industry is imploding due to crappy products. I pray that the Director and writers are very familiar with the game (although I'm not holding my breath) or it will not get the feel correct.

Taking into account like you said, that the people involved are good guys, I don't understand non-artistic flubs that are editorial in nature. MANY here have offered for no fee, editing work on new products before release.

I'd let them have whatever mundane gear that they can themselves carry (within reason. No backpacks full of expensive magnifying glasses, etc.). About 50gp equivalent in cash and a 25% chance of a magic item valued at 1,000 gp or less.

It certainly doesn't help when they are intentionally under funded by Billions and ordered to scratch people from the rolls, both VA and SS. SPECIFICALLY us Veterans. Its no wonder why they don't have enough Doctors and Nurses and other staff to take care of us. Hell, even the food for us stuck rec...

At low levels it is MUCH faster. Yeah, the first three levels can zoom by in about three adventures. After that, it starts to slow down. Hmm. That'd be my first tweak. I always liked the idea of characters being 1st-level long enough that 2nd feels earned to the players. It is also, by FAR, the har...

I've seen it played like that before. I've done it too. Never had an evil cleric with a good group before though. That would last about 10 seconds.

Re: Saving throws for spells

Annok, you can always use the rule that if a spell caster takes damage in a round when they are casting a CT 1 spell, they lose the spell. No concentration check. That creates a dangerous situation for spell casters who meet high level fighter types. That 10th level Ranger is going to pepper that wi...

Yes. That is how it has been done since AD&D days. Since C&C is really designed as AD&D 3rd Edition, I carry that flavor/paradigm forward.

I don't adjust the HP during the "encounter". If it is a permanent Con drain I adjust a day or so later.

Re: Saving throws for spells

One of the (legitimate) critiques of C&C I have encountered is the absence of 'progressive' saving throws generated by the SEIGE engine. This is particularly the case when a non-PRIME character is going up against a spell-caster of similar level. For example a 10th level Ranger makes a save aga...
