Re: SIEGE QUESTIONS
The way you handled it sounds totally fair. I would have just stopped at the hide/conceal roll for the party members and allowed surprise round for the ambush. Why, well because they are just Orc's.... Part of the spirit of Siege is "do not make mundane rolls, just get on with the narrative.&q...

SIEGE QUESTIONS
A few situations that came up last night, I'd like some of my fellow forum members input on, just to make sure I am handing these situations correctly in C&C. Maybe get a little discussion going. This is one area that still throws us for a small loop... Surprise At it's basic level, it's a Wisdo...

Shields and Monsters
Just out of curiosity, if a Monster has an AC listed in the mosters entry (goblins, orcs and the like) is that supposed to include a shield, if the monster has a shield? If not (which I am assuming it does not) I'm assuming you apply the shield bonus as normal, to the allowed number of attacks in th...

Re: Declaration of actions
I am interested in the phase of declaration of actions before the initiative. In the other rpgs I have played, I never used it. But now I am inclined to use it. Do you bother the players with "narrow" declaration (that is: attack, whom? move, where? and so on) or do you use the "wide...

Re: Games and Contests of Skill
This seems useful, so I am replying just so I can find the thread later ... :D Nice! Let me tell you, that session was a lot of fun, but I would have the CL for the drinks be really easy at first. Our first try, the NPC rolled a 3 and was out after the 3rd freaking drink. And PLAY UP the NPCs perso...

Re: Cost of Heavy Pull Bows
So, I'm thinking of introducing the Pull Weight of bows into my game, but thought I'd bring this topic back up to see if anyone had any further input on these bows? How much would you charge for them in particular. I like Redwullf's idea, seems straight foward and simply. But how does that cost comp...

Combat Rules Questions from the CKG
Just a couple of items I want to see how other CKs are handing... First, with regard to p. 256 of the CKG, Combat Maneuvers. But Offensive Focus and Parry state "must announce this before the round begins". Why are these not options we can decide to take on your turn? Is this a matter of e...

Re: On Rolling Primes (SIEGE mechanics question)
Wow, very neat to hear several of you already do this! I think if i do it, which I think I will, I'll have the player tall me on the result if it's a prime or not, just to re-enforce the idea, and remind me when they are using a prime... "23 Prime" for example. Now I know they did not forg...

Re: On Rolling Primes (SIEGE mechanics question)
Yea, I'm of the thought process that it might make the resolution even smoother if I put the prime bonus in the hands of the players. I know the book also suggests that if your using the standard 12 and 18 values, that when players call off thier rolls you have them state "prime"...ie: &qu...

On Rolling Primes (SIEGE mechanics question)
So I am considering an option from the CKG on rolling SIEGE checks. When rolling primes the CK treat all checks as a base of 18, then has the players just add 6 to thier check if it is a Prime.
Is anyone else doing this? Any problems with using this method?

Re: Question about the Amnug
Well, I did end up giving it two attacks and increased the XPs accordingly. Ran nicely. Was down to 1 HP for about 4 rounds in a row, but the half orc fighter with the +5 to hit couldn't roll over a 5, lol!! Great fun. I'd suggest giving the monster that extra attack for sure. Definately gives it a ...

Re: Healing Question
Sort of, yes. A strict interpretation like that renders the more powerful healing spells almost useless. When you would need them most, for example, is when someone has been dropped to the brink of death and you need to restore them to fighting ability, not merely prevent death. Some spells, like h...

Re: Healing Question
I like that healing brings one to 0, first, as it gives purpose to bandages, non-magical healing, and minor healing spells such as first aid , goodberry , or cure light wounds . For me, the more powerful spells, such as anything 2nd level and above, simply heals whatever is rolled, minus whatever y...

Re: Vakhund download available?
In the Vakhund-pdf there was copious reference to a PDF with extra rules, NPC stats etc. as well as the overarching storyline of the three modules. Is this PDF already available on the website or not? I can't find under the 'downloads' section. Good module, by the way (though I wasn't too fond of t...

Re: My Chimera/Hybrid game
I know roughly what your talking about. I read the DCC Beta rules. Very interesting stuff they had going on there. When I had determined I was done with 4e and jumping ship, I chose between running the DCC Beta or going with C&C. I knew virtually nothing about them, but C&C became the clear ...

Healing Question
Quick question...according to the RAW, when you use healing (spells and potions in particular) when you heal a character who is below 0 HPs, he first goes to 0, then normal or magical healing proceeds from there. Is anyone using any optional rules that allows hit points restored when below 0, to go ...

Re: FIRST C&C GAME!
1. That way works fine. I like opposed rolls but rarely use them as the game moves faster without them. If I could figure out a way to do it quickly and secretly I would probably adopt them. I do occasionally use them. Considering that. I think I would have just had the Saber-tooth roll his stealth...

Re: FIRST C&C GAME!
1. That sounds like a fine way to do it. C&C doesn't have "opposed" rolls, so stealth is all on the sneaker, and monsters generally add their HD to a roll (you might or might not do that depending on the creature at your whim.) Following up with surprise is fine since you were now mov...

FIRST C&C GAME!
Well, ran our first C&C game Sunday. Gotta say, it was a lot of fun. We've been playing 4e since it came out, but if felt so good and so "right" to go old school again. The system is simple, yet elegant and allowed for a whole evenings worth of actual, fun "role" palying...no...

Question about the Amnug
First off, gotta say I absolutley LOVE M&T of Ahirde. Great good, rich detailed histories for all the monster as well as the treasure, awsome stuff. Now, my question...I noticed the Amnug as 2 heads, but only seems to get one attack. Is that a misprint or an oversight? I can't think, off the top...

Re: Games and Contests of Skill
For Arm Wrestling, consider letting a Dex prime get the a bonus as well, +3 or +4 sounds about right to me. The reasoning for this is that while a high strength is crucial in the contest, quick reflexes and the application of leverage are very important as well. Having been witness to quite a few c...

Re: Class Racail Bonuses
Nice find Lobo316. I'm of the mind that the the half-orc must be a ranger to get the +2 (as this seems to be clear by the RAW). With this Advantage, it appears to only solidify this stance. With the Bloodhound advantage the half-orc gains a limited track ability with scent alone when not of the ran...

Hey Gang, thanks for all the tremendously helpful ideas. Here is what I ended up coming up with. Just wanted to share if anyone wanted to use them in thier games.... Re: Class Racail Bonuses
Wow, thanks for all the great input gang! For my part...I am going to go ahead and give the half-orc (pc race) the ability, but if they are not a ranger they cannot add thier level to the role (and if they are not a ranger, most likely, WIS is not even a prime anyway). Side Note: I am playing with A...
