Grappling damage
So, according to the rules (CRB), when a defender is successfully grappled, he is held and cannot act except to escape. So, what happens now? Questions... The defender can try to break the hold by making his own grapple roll. OK, I get that, but... 1. Does that mean he now "holds" the orig...

Re: Attribute Generation
Man great stuff here. I am very fascinated by the varying degree of methods used. I find it interesting that really no one uses a "stat array" regularly. I also think some of those methods just seem awful tough to me as well. I have nothing against low stats btw, sometimes they can lead to...

Interestng that there have not been more replies to this one. And surprised I have not seen one reply saying they don't use it.
Still considering whether or not to use it myself.

Re: Attribute Generation
Thanks for the replies gang. Lots of great stuff here. AGN...I kinda like the idea of tossing out fixed attributes and say "these are your scores, go for it". Could even mix that with the 2 for 1 exchange method to allow for a tiny bit of tweaking. Omote, I am very intrigued by your matrix...

Attribute Generation
The CKG provides a few new methods for character generation. But, as experienced games as most of us are, how are you rolling up attributes for your game. The tried and true method for your games, forever now, has been 4d6, drop the lowest. I'm actually considering and old school approach of 3d6, bu...

Playing without Raise Dead
So, how many C&C groups out there are playing without Raise Dead? Once think I like about C&C is the simplicity of character design. The "character" is really you...your imagination, your role play. It's not about a ton of mechanics, thus it's far easier to create replacement chara...

Re: Slag Heap Advice...*spoilers*
The Blacktooth Ridge area is south of Aufstrag on the eastern continent of the "Cradle of the World", Aenochia. The nation it's part of is known as New Aenochia; the region is sometimes called the Outremere in various Airdhe materials. Thanks, I am using the Codex of Erde, but found the O...

Hey Obatron, is your game in Erde (or Aihrde)? If so, where does this adventure take place in Aihrde? If not, maybe someone else who has run the module can answer that (don't have my copy on me). Aihrde near Blacktooth Ridge area. Ok, but where is Blacktooth? What province, country or major city? I...

Re: Stone Skin
This is one of a few spells I DO NOT allow in my game. If it was caster only it would be less of an issue, but it isnt. The special duration means the caster can sit around for days placing this spell on the entire party. Then load up on scrolls of the same spell and go adventure with little damage...

Re: Stone Skin
Then load up on scrolls of the same spell and go adventure with little damage being done to ANY party member. In my opinion one of the the most abused spells ever. No matter how tempting it is to use it on npc casters, once it is in the game you will regret it. LOL! Let a caster try to run in and o...

Thanks for the feedback guys. To me, it's a tough call. I've always liked the concept of the spell, but I've always thought it was a bit over-powered. Here is what I came up with off the top O' my noggin, thoughts? The 1st Ed spell only lasts for one attack. For a 4th level spell that's not too pow...

Stone Skin
So, I could not locate Stone Skin in the C&C PHB. Does this spell exist in C&C? If not, how hard would the 3.5 version be to bring into C&C... This is the 3.5 version. I would like for this to be a 2nd level spell in C&C. Maybe drop the duration to rounds, instead of minutes? Maybe d...

Re: The (un)official "OMG a 5th printing is coming!!" thread
Hey folks, You guys are pretty dead on with why we are printing 5th printing. We are just about through the 4th printing. There are no changes to the GUTS planned whatsoever. Well, aside from editorial. I think there is a double paragraph in the spell section and one of the pics (monk? I can't reme...

Re: Classic Monsters: The Manual... Pre-Order AND Kickstarte
What exactly is going to be presented in this book that isn't arleady available in M&T? What "classic" monsters are they refering to? I think M&T is chock full of some classics (outside of WotC trademarks of course, like the Beholder).

Re: Clerics, Alternate Class Powers
I did a C&C version of domains from v3.5. I call them Divine Domain, and if you are interested you can check them out somewhere in the link in my sig. Perhaps there may be some ideas you can use for this. I needed some variant cleric powers based on deity and found with some tweeking, domains f...

Re: Clerics, Alternate Class Powers
C&C is not a game about feats, talents, advantages, etc. Sure, you can add that stuff in, but it really donesn;t need any of that. Perfectly playable as is. As to why they didn't put it in the CKG, it may be hard to directly translate into C&C without upping the density of the core rules. ~...

Re: Clerics, Alternate Class Powers
Hey Omote, thanks!! Very helpful indeed. That is exactly what I was looking for. I think, for my game, I will not include the divine domain feat, but instead just give the player for the clerice the choice of one of those domain, in place of his undead turning ability. For the more traditional playe...

Here's a few I came up with...(again, general in the terms of the diety)... Lawful: Turn undead - (as normal) Evil: control undead - (as normal) War, battle, conflict: Holy Fury - (on a natural 20, make another attack at full bonus) Any: Holy Aura - (from the CKG, if playing with Advantages, this on...

Clerics, Alternate Class Powers
Hey Gang, Being somewhat inspired by a different thread, thought I'd start something new on this. Let's take the Cleric ability to Turn Undead and do something different with it. I'd like to come up with a small collecition of altnernate powers clerics obtain, instead of turning udead, from thier di...

Dragon Attacks
From M&T... " Dragons do not add their full hit dice when making attack rolls; a dragon adds one-half of its hit dice to attack rolls. Dragons do, however, add their full hit dice to saving throw rolls, plus the bonus set forth in the age chart." Why is this? Why are dragons treated di...

Thanks for all the great feedback gang. Definately giving me some options to mull over. I like the idea of rolling a new init every 5 rounds (as opposed to every round). Lets you shake things up a bit without bogging the flow down with an every round init.

How are folks out here keeping track of combat? Is there a combat tracking form of some sort that is popular? A sheet or something. Just curious. Thanks Dynel, think I am leaning towards either Dark Journy or Slag Heap. Sticking with Vakhund for the opening just cuz I like the vibe of caravan guards and the RP it presents. I can spice that up a bit (and have already come up with a few ways to do so). Once thing I noticed about Vakhund is ther...
