<t>Nice program, Scurvy. I shall be playing around with it soon I guess.<br/> <br/> For me though, I allow my players to roll 4d6 - lowest; and keep rolling until they get a set with at least 2 x 16s. In my experience of rpgs in general, unless the stats are truly heroic, they play a very minor part...

Has anyone seen the racial paragons in the Unearthed Arcana for 3e? Essentially, it's a class which enhances the existing racial traits of the character. It only lasts up to level 3, and can only be taken at 1st level - but I would guess it might prove the easiest to adopt.

I played Basic D&D for a (short) while and whilst I did enjoy their take on the race/class thing, I always thought it felt restricted somehow.

I assign the common tongue (which in my campaign is 'Hrnic'), and if they are demi-human then they also have their native tongue. Beyond that, it's one per intelligence bonus from the list as given to that race.

If I remember correctly, this is mentioned in the PHB. Using large weapons does give the opponent his strike first (notice I didn't say 'free strike'). Something like a long spear, or pole arm.

The PHB has a CK section at the back which goes into the rules (rule?) in more detail, with a bunch of examples to help. It also details such stuff as movement, light sources and so on - nothing really secret - just mundane.

To be honest, I think the SIEGE mechanic should apply to saving throws only. Combat is it's own special case.

Everything in my game will mostly not require rolls, but when they do they'll always be 'high enough' or 'too low'.
