Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

The did'nt want to get too far in the bush on this thread, but since we are all throwing in alternative systems.... I use the encumberance RAW as the backbone. Instead of the belts and pouches, I have my players set up their load bearing harness. I allow any combination of pouches and scabbards that...

Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

I'm in favor of having an encumberance system. The C&C system is adequate. GM's are free to use or not. I just think more people would be willing to use if it were presented coherently.

Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

Worn and Capacity Objects The Encumbrance Value for objects assumes that the character is carrying the object. Some objects are instead designed to be worn by the character (clothes, armor, etc.). As such, a character that wears any of these objects would have the EV of the item reduced by 1. Thus,...

Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

Koralas, I see what you are saying. It seems intention of that paragraph is to give rules on capacities and effects of barrels, sacks, chests, or even a carried backpack (not worn). The example they give is just horrendous. In the first paragraph, they establish that anything placed in a backpack or...

Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

-Delete that second paragraph on page 48 (PHB 4th printing). The first paragraph says all that needs to be said. -Make it more evident that items with a (w) listed after its encumbrance value is halved when worn. Any table that contains items with a (w) should have a footnote describing this. -Creat...

Re: EV revisions or scrap it?

I would like them to rework the first two paragraphs on page 48 PHB. I have read it 100 times and it still seems that the second paragraph contravenes the first paragraph. I just ignore the second paragraph, and everything falls into place. I actually like the EV system (with a few tweeks of course).

Re: Movement in combat

So if I am reading NewenglandJeff and Korlas replies correctly, it seems you guys would run this differently. Jeff, would not hinder the movement, until melee combat is actually initiated (otherwise, feel free to "run through" any holes you see). Korlas see's the issue as, if you move wit...

Re: Movement in combat

I think of a combat round like a football play. I would compare this example to a QB handing the ball to a running back. The running back see's a break in the opponents line and rushes to break through. If he had the initiative, and the space was empty, he gets through free and clear just like real ...

Re: My C&C Game at Total Con 2012

I showed up there on Friday to play, but by the time I found the registration room and looked over the schedule, you were already into your second 2 hour block. Maybe next time.

RE: First session afterthoughts

Sorry to make a new topic out of this, but this was a very interesting thread and I have a few things to add WRT the Fighting Disengage vs. Hasty Disengage. According to the RAW on PHB page 132 under the heading "Disengaging From Combat", a Hasty Disengagement will incur the following; 1) ...
