Re: Let's talk house rules and the CKG!

These things are interesting to me. Typically reading a set of house rules gives you a good idea of how a DM likes to run their game, and the rules are typically to elicit a certain theme, feel or tone. So to use a 3d6 method (presumably because you like "grittier", low number games) but ...

Re: Let's talk house rules and the CKG!

I don't have the CKG yet, but after reading the forums a bit it seems like it'd be right up my alley. I'll put it next on my list after the umbrage saga boxed set. My own house rules are: -Roll 3d6 arranged for stats, reroll the lot if you have 3 or more negative modifiers (lots of whining about the...

Re: EPP and Character Level Advancement

I recently started a game and did not give out XP for treasure at first. (I'm from the new school, I didn't even know that was a thing!) After a whole session, I had handed out about 90 xp (one fight) and that was split between to PCs and a hireling. That was depressing, like the OP said, so I looke...

Re: Too easy with hirelings?

Thanks for all the great advice! I'm considering killing off a few of the farmers. I've really only given one a name, and described on other. Odon served in an army before moving out east and becoming a farmer, he serves as their spokesperson most of the time. When the PCs decided to give a sack ful...

Too easy with hirelings?

So I just started running A0 the Rising Knight, and everything's going pretty well. I have 3 players of insane variety of experience. One is brand new to RPGs, one has played a ton of 2nd edition, and one has been playing since 1978! The two less experienced players started out alone and quickly rec...

Re: Domesday: Resurrection

I love this idea - I'm a recent addition tot he crusade, but I've read the Domesday books I could download from Dragonsfoot. I love the idea of homebrew content I could download and maybe add to once I get my GMing feet.

Re: Looking for group in Portland, OR

We just played our first game this sunday, hopefully to become a weekly tradition! You're welcome to come next sunday, Ogma, and play with us. I've taken up the GM role, so no worries about that. I was worried at first, but C&C seems to give the CK enough leeway that I'm not worried about doing ...

Re: Looking for group in Portland, OR

Thanks! You have fun in Wisconsin, too! It's a bit far for me, but looks like a ton of fun from the website. I'll keep an eye out for Castles & Crusades and older D&D stuff at Gamestorm, and tell you guys all about it.

Re: Looking for group in Portland, OR

Is that actually still going? I can only find info from last year online, I assumed it was cancelled. I'm going to Gamestorm next month, but I understand that's not as much about RPGs.

Re: Looking for group in Portland, OR

Thanks for the quick reply! I've got a couple other people in the Portland Gamers meetup group looking to join a C&C group, I may just have to start up my own. I'm gonna keep looking and put a notice up at Rainy Day and some other stuff first.

Looking for group in Portland, OR

Hey everyone! Just introduced to Castles and Crusades, and I'm looking for people to play with. I was wondering if there are any groups playing C&C in the Portland/Beaverton or Hillsboro area, and are willing to take on another player. Special bonus if you guys meet up at my FLGS, Rainy Day Game...
