Are they adaptations of AD&D 1e spells? Or taken from the 3.5 SRD? Or both? Or neither?
How many (if any) are original creations of the C&C writers?

Re: Combat bonus to hit of an invisible character
A person battling an invisible foe is effectively blind. I'm not sure about this. I think there's a difference between you being blind and you having full sight but fighting an invisible foe. Two differences come to mind: 1. If you are blind, you can't only not see your enemy, you can't see anythin...

Re: Let's talk house rules and the CKG!
Haven't really read my CKG in enough depth or detail to use it for house rules yet. I intend to, though. For now, my house rules are: 1. Critical hit on natural 20; damage x2 2. Fumble on natural 1; weapon dropped (one round to recover weapon safely) 3. No subdual damage; all damage is actual damage...

Re: Movement in combat
. I was just re-reading Holmes Basic D&D last night, and the initiative system is basically this: if you move within melee range of someone else, the one with a higher dex goes first. Everything else you are trusted to be able to figure out. Which isn't very helpful since monsters don't have DE...

Re: Fire! Acid! Holy Water! (where?)
Look what else I found: " Vial, Acid . There are many types of acid, and some are far stronger than others, and others simply do not function against particular material. The type represented here is a metal-eating acid, which is normally stored in a clay or glass vial, and is intended to be u...

Re: Fire! Acid! Holy Water! (where?)
I found this on pg. 60 CKG "it functions as flaming oil, dealing 1d6+1 damage for 1d6+3 rounds if untreated." Nice find--that reference escaped me. Cool. I **really** like that idea of 4-9 rounds of fire damage, heh heh. EDIT: In case anyone's curious, it's in the description of...

Re: Fire! Acid! Holy Water! (where?)
Ya, that's weird. I'd prefer not to have to order accessories to get core rules ... Ah, well. :) I found my AD&D 2e books! Hurrah! Just to give another perspective, here's what the DMG says: Substance / Area of Effect / Damage (direct hit) / Damage (splash) Acid / 1' diameter / 2d4 / 1 Holy Wat...

Re: Fire! Acid! Holy Water! (where?)
Liquid combat damage is listed on the portrait CK screen. Silly you for reading books! Type: Diameter/Damage/Save Acid: 5'/1d12/dex half Holy or Unholy Water: 2'/1d8/no save Burning oil: 10'/1d8/dex half EDIT: I checked the Landscape screens, and it's in there too. Is this info in the PHB or CKG an...

What about good old fashioned fire damage? Like from a flaming torch? Is that not in the books anywhere?kreider204 wrote:CKG has something about boiling oil on page 181 and flaming oil cask catapult ammo on 182.

Fire! Acid! Holy Water! (where?)
There's some kind of weird mental block preventing me from finding details on fire, acid, and holy water in my PHB, M&T, and CKG. Can anyone point me to the rules for use of these three substances? Basically it's damage I'm looking for, plus any other stats/game rules given. Fire, acid, holy wat...

Re: Armor Class for Helmets...
I fully have lost this rule on the PHB, but for sure I have read a lot of pages about it on the section about rules of the 1e of AD&D at Dragonfoot. I don't have applied it yet and I must see how my players will react to it. I like the approach of Arduin: this keeps it simple. I'll go with a 1 ...

Re: Armor Class for Helmets...
Personally, I have yet to use the idea of a seperate AC for Helmets or various body parts. I am curious as to how all of you use the Helmet AC (or not). Same goes for called shots. I don't use separate AC for heads or any other body part. The only exception is when the rules themselves necessitate ...

Re: Movement in combat
This came up last session, so, in the event it comes up again...I mentioned this back at session 1, when your move comes into base contact with an enemy, unless you have a class feature or an advantage that allows you to move past them, your move ends. . I'm confused as to what you mean by "ba...

Re: Dwarves aren't small!!!
Here's my take on this, height is only part of the equation in a medium sized creature. I really have a hard time imaging a world were dwarves are always taking a penalty in overbearing situations vs humans or elves or are always at a disadvantage vs elves in grappling. Just not seeing it. I like t...

Re: Making the most of SEIGE
To clarify, by "tricks" I mean stunts, cinematic actions, and creative maneuvers. For example could a rogue throw dirt in an opponents eyes to temporarily blind them with a Dex check, a warrior swing for the knees to trip his foe with a strength check, and the wizard distract his foes wit...

Re: Making the most of SEIGE
Thanks! I've been around on enworld and rpg.net (and to a lesser extent dragonsfoot) for ages, and finally migrated here. I'm pretty much all C&C these days and that won't change anytime soon.Lord Dynel wrote: Oh, and welcome to the Crusade (and you, too, Chainsaw Mage)!

Re: Making the most of SEIGE
I am somewhat new to C&C and from what I have read there appears to be many interesting things one can do with the SEIGE engine. I am excited about playing and was hoping to hear some examples of how this works. What are the most memorable tricks you have seen or performed using this system? Th...

Re: Converting 2nd Edition monsters
I'm assuming that THAC0 in 2e would translate to BtH as follows:
THAC0 20 = BtH 0
THAC0 19 = BtH +1
THAC018 = BtH +2
etc.
THAC0 20 = BtH 0
THAC0 19 = BtH +1
THAC018 = BtH +2
etc.
