Re: A call for help list brick and mortar stores

I decided to not be such a negative ninny and emailed you the info for Little Shoppe of Games in OKC. That place rocks and the owner is the friendliest guy in retail.

Re: Customizing your adventure to your Player Characters

I like this topic and the ideas posted here. I don't have much more to ad at the moment (or any questions), but I do love what is being talked about here.

Re: A call for help list brick and mortar stores

Despite the fact that we have played C&C a lot at Little Shoppe of Games in OKC, everything we own from you guys has been ordered from you guys directly. The place carries a lot of board/card/minatures games, with rpgs being less that 25%, but the owner does his best to special order anything we...

Re: Customizing your adventure to your Player Characters

HOLY COW, you really have thought this out! I have BW Gold and love how they have different reward systems for the different parts of your character (so your beliefs is connected to earning Artha (sp?). But the only reason why I have never attempted to run that game is it way too crunchy (but still ...

Customizing your adventure to your Player Characters

Green Ronin put up an interesting article about customizing your adventures to your PCs: http://greenronin.com/2013/07/ronin_round_table_the_silverad.php Tho, I wish they would have given some more advice since this is kind of general. BUT, a while back, I had come up with my own system that could b...

PDFs

I just wanted to give some love to c&c for offering a pdf option to their books. I like printed books a lot, but having the pdf version is also really nice (for iPads and other Ereaders), so thanks!

Re: Movement

I have now played in four different people's C&C game and to be honest movement and distance was never really that detailed anyway. If we used minis, it was more to know where people were in combat. But for the day that I run this game, I have a page of custom rules that I am compiling (which is...

Just Jog then. 20' is 1/2 round worth of Jog. Then attack. Solved.
I thought in order to jog, you had to dedicate your whole turn that round to movement?

Re: Movement

I also don't like the rule because it really screws over the short races. 10 foot of movement in combat situations is just too little. So a "full" 20 feet works far better. Never mind what it does to Thieves in combat. Let alone a "short" thief. If you are the CK, you could alwa...

Re: Movement

I take that back, it does give a -20 for double or quadruple movement during a silent move check. See also Hide checks... Thanks Arduin. Those two sections did pretty much answer my question. Since I had not seen any rules for bonus/penalties that differentiate Jogging from Running (other than doub...

Re: Movement

Reality in a medieval fantasy game? That's rich ;-) lol Yes, I did see the move silently rules and yet it still does not answer what the difference between full move, double move and quadruple move or than distances (because it deals with half movement). I was just curious if there were different ru...

Re: Movement

I've never followed that rule. Since day one I have done it as full move and attack. To the point that I got so used to doing it that way that at Troll Con I had to be corrected. Actually i plan on changing it to that (full move + attack or double move and no attack). It is not only easier to remem...

Re: Movement

Because a round is a finite amount of time. It should read that you can move for 1/2 of the round and still attack. There are only so many actions you can do in X period of time. That is why the rule exists. If you want to bring reality into the picture, moving that far (25 to 30 feet) and swinging...

Movement

Hey, It states in the PHB Pg. 130, that a character can move half his/her movement and still get to attack (unless charging). The part that confuses me is that if you use greater movement than that, then it has three movement rates: Full move, double move (jog) or quadruple movement (run). Why not j...

Re: Minions

Okay, I don't understand the logic behind saying that a group of goblin minions (group of 4) being given +3 to hit/+3 to damage being too overwhelming for, say... five 3rd level Heroes. It says in the M&T that they are usually in groups of 2-12 (and larger). So, let's say it's 12. 3 minion group...

Re: Minions

It worked in that last SW game I ran, but you can't do this with a "simulationist" mind set. It's a matter of logic. If only 1 guy can swing at the PC there is nothing short of magic that would cause him to do more damage just because he has buddies waiting in line. So, it doesn't work in...

Re: Minions

The biggest difference between C&C and SW, is proberbly that SW combat is more based on ranged weapons than C&C combat (unless you're jedi, off course!), and therefore makes less sense, due to the "maximum numbers of baddies"-issues that Lurker mentions. Wooh... I did not even thi...

Re: Minions

One thing, when facing said hoard, only so many baddies will be able to face off against a player at once. Once you hit that thresh hold, the 'minions' will be getting in each other’s way more than being effective at attacking the character. Of the top of my head, I'd say 3-4 minions (depending on ...

Re: Minions

It worked in that last SW game I ran, but you can't do this with a "simulationist" mind set. Like I had mentioned, it is more of a narrative gaming style where you still want the dice to hit the table, but don't want to clutter down the action with math. In our group's last C&C game, w...

Re: Minions

I don't have enough experience with the game (C&C) to know whether that math was correct, so I just threw that out there (good to know, btw). But, I can say that in order to make this work, you kind of have to forgo the technical things (since it is a blob of people attacking). It is more of a N...

Minions

We have been playing the beginner's box for the new Star Wars rpg (Edge of the Empire) and among the many cool rules and ideas they have in the game, one of them I thought could work for a lot of other rpgs. That would be their "Minion" rules. Because that is a different system (a system t...

and now that i have reviewed the rules again (my CK loaned me that book, which is HUGE) I think you are right about that. But, some of the things that the Fate points cover could be solved with just running games differently. Take for example the part where you can get a clue about stuff when you ar...

Re: Using the "Bennies" rules from SW for C&C

I was really concerned at first about a "get out of death" free card at first, but I realized something: zero hit points is not the end. To me it just means you lost and have been taken out of the situation as far as free will is concerned. If I was running a game and the player was not be...

I saw those rules and we currently use the "Fate Point" system. But I like how you can gain more points throughout the game without waiting for the next level.

Using the "Bennies" rules from SW for C&C

I sent my CK the rules that Savage Worlds uses for their version of Hero/Fate/Action points, which they call "Bennies." Here is how I suggested those rules would work: • Every player starts out with three at the beginning of the session. • Each point can be used as a re-roll, taking the be...
