Darn you Troll Lords and your damn sales!

I bought Codex Nordica on super-sale.....looks so damn good now I have to buy all the other Codexes.

My accountant is going to have a stroke.

Re: C&C and 5e

Of course as a player, I often wonder why I "research games to see which one I like better" - since I'm at the mercy of what game some GM I can find is running. Well that's of course not strictly true - I like reading RPG's just to read RPG's. The whole RPG field is like a puzzle and I keep trying t...

Legal in sense of content or legal in sense of who gets compensated for their contribution?

I say donate the profits to charity and call it good.

C&C and 5e

Read the 5e PHB the other day (no, not all of it - not sure I've read 100% of any game I wasn't editing). Liked much of it....but perhaps being old and remembering when RPG"s were RPG"s and not "video games on paper", much of it went against my grain. Obviously one case for 5e is that it's a million...

Crusader Companion - why not "official"?

I've probably asked before....but curious why the Crusader's Companion was never made "official"? Or obviously why not an "official" version of it put out by the Troll Lords themselves? (Also - could someone point me to the latest? Seems like there were a few versions floating around...though of cou...

Re: Strength question (sort of)

Just dug out my AD&D 1e book. Page 9 is only about STR. How much you can lift, racial limits, etc. Charts, text - everything. If included the whack-a-doo 18 STR percentage stuff. Ah the good old days when people explained stuff...... PS - no lie, my first ever AD&D character rolled a ligit 18/00 STR...

Re: Strength question (sort of)

Gary said "you don't need rules"...yet took his simple, 20 page game and kept expanding it into hundreds of pages for AD&D. :)

still have typos in 7th printing

I've brought this up 44 times...but "Challange" is spelled "Challenge", not spelled "Challange" as it STILL is in 7th printing in 3 places including the TOC.

Maybe they think keeping typos is "funny" and part of the game's charm?

Re: Strength question (sort of)

Captain_K....you're going to have to write that so a "newbie" gets it and isn't scared by all that math. They'll go running back to D&D if they see that a STR check in C&C takes a slide rule to figure out. :)

Racial Classes

Looking at many OSR and OSR-ish games this past week. Labyrinth Lord, Basic Fantasy, B/X, Swords&Wizardry, etc. One I've always like is Adventurer Conqueror King - one reason being is that it creates custom classes for each race like those below: dwarven vaultguard dwarven craftpriest elven spellswo...

Re: Strength question (sort of)

So to keep this simple (for me): You have STR Prime 12 character who we will call STRP12. You have a STR Non-Prime 14 character who we will call STR14. Now, is some sense STR14 is stronger than STRP12. Numbers don't lie. But, STRP12 has trained, etc and can utilize their lesser strength more e...

Was still going to have the Attribute on the sheet - just making the space for the Modifier bigger than it's parent Attribute.

Attribute vs Attribute Modifier

Thinking of designing my own C&C character sheet. So...thinking of making the Attribute Modifier standout more than the actual Attribute value. Some games like True20 and it's cousin Fantasy Age (and others) basically get rid of the Attribute since it's rarely used after the initial roll to get the ...

Strength question (sort of)

Most D&D-ish games have charts for attributes showing a rough scale of what they mean. For example, 2nd edition D&D has a table for Strength with these headers: Ability Score Hit Damage Damage Adj. Weight Allowance Max Press Open Doors Lift Gates Is there a C&C version of this type of table anywhere...

Re: Class abilities as prime checks?

I know it will "never happen" - but I really think C&C would do for a rewrite to reorganize it better - obviously not written for a raw RPG rookie in mind (or even a not so raw RPG rookie). And few games are, even the ones that claim they are.

Re: Class abilities as prime checks?

Can someone translate this all to someone who isn't yet a C&C guru (and may never be)? Are we saying that every class ability is rolled as if it were a prime even though you're "only supposed" to have 2 or 3 primes? Then...if half your stats can end up "prime", why have primes at all? But I think I'...

Blood & Treasure is one of my favorite OSR games. Very complete book and "feels like D&D without being D&D" if that makes sense. Not sure there is much knowledge of it here (haven't seen it mentioned). Curious if anyone else here has looked at it? Here is a good review of it: https://nerdomancerofdo...

another whacky PHB question

OK...I apologize for this one ahead of time: I'm a new player say. And I get the PHB. I find that 30 pages of MY book (at least) are not for me as there is a CK section in the back of MY book. Then in the CK book the first approximately 70 pages are for MY characters. Was there ever any talk about m...

My post wasn't "against this Rab" guy/gal.....it was really about the logic of the statement. What's the point of having levels if they don't (roughly) scale the sa...
