<t>I like it, and would probably use it in tandem with C&C. They are that similar. The same guy did something called Project 74, aternate rules systems for D&D type games. Like a skill system that has a way to make the thief abilities available to everyone as skills and keep the thief best a...

The Arcanum a supplement for D&D? I suppose, but I ran it once as a game, and it was more fun all on its lonesome than most games where it is used for source material. IMO.

Thread necromancy!

So they have a snazzed up second edition coming, and it sounds like they were listening to input from fans. And the site works now.

Thoughts?

As portrayed very colorfully in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', heh?

Still, guys, it was how would a thieves' guild get started, go from gangs to city wide organized crime.

Whatever.

<t>Sure, Treebore. It just didn't look organized in Rome right about that time, you know? Just rival gangs and so much chaos commerce was threatened to the extent that things were ready to collapse. In short, what Antony did created the unification that probably would lead to the formation of a guil...

<t>*shrug* I just thought that episode was a reasonable insight into how a fantasy-type thieves guild might begin. Power vacuum, lazy leadership, something gets started that would not be so easy to stop.<br/> <br/> It didn't strike me as something much related to real world organized crime. In the e...

<t>Sure, but I was thinking on lines of 'how would a thieves' guild get started? In 'Rome', there were numerous gangs; what Antony did basically legitimized them, ergo the start of a 'guild'. There are similarities to modern organized crime, but to be the same the maifa would have to be blatantly su...

Theives Guilds...in Rome

<t>In the thread on things we dislike in rpgs, several mentioned thieves' guilds and how they were unlikely. So, I saw something the other night that I would like to share.<br/> <br/> Have any of you seen Rome, the second season yet? In the second episode there is a very interesting sequence which i...

Nice thought. A lot of colorful ideas for organizations in EPIC. In fact the game is pretty much a gold mine of useful concepts for any fantasy rpg.

<t>My idea for this was to take the careers chart from Barbarians of Lemuria and give at least one to each PC, and derive things he can do from the suggested skills listed under each, maybe a limited progression (as in, the career list is stuff picked up before the adventuring began). The skills gai...

Thief is just a fantasy staple. As in 'Thief of Baghdad'. It doesn't really matter to me, all the PCs tend to be thieves anyway.

jman, I was referring to 3.5, tetsnbn. C&C is great, I am just having a little slippy-slide trouble with integrating some sort of skill system. I need to run some sort of playtest. To get a grasp.
