Re: Rogue One

Nerd voice: Actually those were AT-ACT Walkers.

I loved this movie. I thought it was the equal of Empire Strikes Back and a much better film overall than last year's. I kind of see it as Star Wars for grown ups.

Re: He slammed C&C.

I have little to add here. He doesn't frequent RPGGeek, thankfully, and thus I don't know him. But I do know that getting butthurt over a word is all the rage in today's society. So he's butthurt, but he's nothing more than a crank. He doesn't speak for anyone except himself, and I would hope any a...

Re: He slammed C&C.

Also, the middle ages were a horrifying period for most people living at the time. It was an established hierarchy based upon kin ties and right of rule by blood. The vast majority of people spent their lives under the oppressive yoke of true monsters, unable to even leave the small plots of land t...

Re: He slammed C&C.

Cherry picking his statements and not providing any context isn't helpful to understanding his point of view. I don't make a habit of misrepresenting others. I wouldn't know but I am willing to believe you are an honest person. Unfortunately since you didn't quote him everyone has been guessing wha...

Re: He slammed C&C.

They were religious wars of intolerance and greed against people pretty much minding their own business during a time which was a golden age where science and other good things were thriving. That's not exactly true. The Crusades were called because a group of Turks took control of the holy lands a...

Re: He slammed C&C.

I would prefer hearing what he had to say rather than seeing people interpret or guess what he meant. If part of the problem is the word 'crusade' then yeah I think I get where he is coming from. The word 'crusade' is loaded with a lot of negative connotations -- assuming the Euro-centric point of v...

Flashman. Rapist. Cheat. Narcissist. Sadist. Truly a hero for these times. There is an assumption that racism was more rampant during Victorian times than our own. Hearing that women, disabled, gay and Muslim people got beat up and/or threatened the day after the election makes me wonder. Though rac...

Love it. These ideas could be turned into a nice random die roll. I especially like the 'Employment" option. Though women weren't paid even upper class women laboured and were kept busy -- overseeing the budget and purchases, directing the housekeeping staff, organizing charities and other volu...

Re: The Force Awakens... spoilers, rants, and accolades

I made the mistake of watching the original three movies (Star Wars, Empire and Jedi) on a marathon with my son the day before seeing The Force Awakens and I think that experience really coloured my impression. I was astonished at how well The Empire Strikes Back has aged. It remains a truly excelle...

Re: Help making first dungeon

An Assassin, a Knight, a Druid, a Bard, and a Cleric walk into a dungeon ... The encounters look easy to me which will mean your players will end feeling some success on their first go. You can make subsequent dungeons more difficult. Give as much or as little loot as you like. It all depends on how...
