Re: Thoughts on StarSIEGE & Star Wars
EDIT: Drat I wrote this post before seeing the above. Nevertheless I'll toss a couple coins into the fountain ... There is no need to re-invent this wheel. Everything you need to make a Jedi is covered in the Amazing Adventures concept of the Mentalist. Even that sixth sense of danger is included. M...

I'm quite sure as saavy businessmen they realize the effects negative perception can have on their company and go to great lengt...

"Regarding Henry"? "Lost"? "Alias"? I haven't seen Regarding Henry but I heard it was good. Didn't much like Lost or Alias . I once saw the most hilarious criticism of Battlestar Galactica that went something like "A fleet of red herrings flapping through space.&q...

Hlobane Orcs
I see I have graduated to the Hlobane Orc category. Huzzah and haha. I do have a soft spot for orcs and really am relieved I am no longer a lousy elf. Lok'tar, y'all. I had to look up the word Hlobane though. The Wikipedia description of the battle made an interesting read. But um. There is kind of ...

Re: The Force Awakens... spoilers, rants, and accolades
The creators of the film had clear goals that they've been happy to share. They wanted to ignite interest again in the franchise, give fans the pieces that were missing in the prequels and make the films look and feel more inclusive. On all these points they were successful. It was good fun to watch...

Great write up of a great session! I'm game to either continue AA or if you wanted to try something else, that'd be OK as well. :) Thanks for saying so about the session. You guys are great players. I really am open to continuing, trying something new or passing along the slot to someone else. Afte...

Re: Star Wars – TLG rule fit ?
It wouldn't really take any tinkering to play Star Wars with Amazing Adventures. Jedi abilities sound just like the ones described for Mentalists. The Force is a good way to describe their mysterious inner ability. Someone like Han Solo is a pretty much a Raider or Hooligan. General Leia Organa coul...

Today we are doing a dish I would guess goes all the way back to whenever mankind started cooking their food in pots. Beef Stew. Of course I bet they didn't have the range of ingredients we put into ours. Plus fresh biscuits. Classic. I think the idea of beef stew has really changed over time. Besi...

I like making Blood Pie from the Star Trek cookbook. This is the dessert version, made with cranberries, cheeries and different types of juice. It's deep red, and best served hot and runny. It's quite tart. One of my favorite desserts, actually. Usually i make it for Halloween, and the name works w...

The seed cake looks tasty. Interesting comment though about caraways seeds tasting like a mild version of anise. I use them in my Irish soda bread and other recipes and I never got that flavor. That seed cake looks good. Victorian recipes are neat, though I often find myself having to reduce the amount of sugar, because they all had a crazy sweet tooth. I'm a big fan of armored turnips (though I have to use fake cheese, alas): http://medievalcookery.com/recipes/turnips.html For those look...

'tis the season and all that. This weekend I tried making a Hobbit Seed Cake based on an old Victorian recipe. It was fun thinking that Mr. Tolkien himself may have nibbled on something similar whilst sipping a cuppa. Details here: http://kitchenoverlord.com/2013/12/01/hobbit-week-shire-seed-cake/ O...

" In the “Dark Ages” (circa 480-800 or so) any knight could make another knight at will. Your rep as a knight depended on not only your ability but also the rank of the knight who made you. For example, a guy made a knight by the king will have more clout than a knight given his spurs by Sir No...
