Another vote for the Savage Solomon Kane book. It is fantastic. Straight away you can run games that read like the Solomon Kane tales. It includes not only the system but also a tailored magic system specifically for the setting. It's my favorite Savage Worlds book.

<r>The CODA game worked really well. While obviously inspired by D20, D20 it's not. Primarily it doesn't use a periodic randomizer and the resolution system provides degrees of success and failure (on a curve). And CODA's analog to classes aren not as stringent. Also there are wound levels/points in...

I really like the new Traveller. It's a tight little system. Personally, I'm a big fan. My players were so neutral that they didn't play the combat system to the fullest and it caused issues because I was playing NPCs to the hilt.

We wound up switching out to FATE 3.0.

<t>I still play Castles & Crusades for a few reasons. A big reason is because it feels familiar. By that I mean on some level it feels like the game I discovered as a kid. The elegance found in the simplicity allows me to run MY game. Beyond that I'm able to tap the massive and readily available...

I have Rolemaster Express and HARP. Of the two I prefer HARP. Is it worth running? Absolutely. If you want a game that feels gritty where the PCs really have to think things through then HARP is for you. The system enforces this kind of feel.

Re: Winders

Thanks for the discussion.

It's been pretty good but has drifted from a technical approach to the debate. Raised points seem biased by emotion skewing the intent away from veritable fact.

I'll see y'all in the other threads.
